Director of Operations – Lodging, Ground & Sea
General Description:
The Director of Operations – Lodging, Ground & Sea (LGS) leads the global operation for Sabre’s Hotel and Car Platform, ensuring the reliability, performance and scalability of both supplier connectivity and availability in the downstream marketplace.
This role oversees the end-to-end operational health of Sabre’s lodging, car and rail ecosystem, driving excellence across supplier integrations, data quality, content enrichment, and day-to-day performance management. The Director partners closely with Product Support Activations, End to End Solutioning, Product Management, Global Product Development (GPD), System Engineering, Commercial Supply, and Customer Support teams to ensure that Sabre’s hotel, car and rail content meets the highest standards of quality, speed, and consistency.
The leader in this role combines deep platform and API domain knowledge with operational discipline and analytical insight - ensuring effective supplier connectivity, enriched property and ground content, and robust, optimized system performance across shopping and booking flows.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Operations & Performance
- Oversee the operational stability and performance of Sabre’s Hotel, Car and Rail Platform, ensuring industry-leading uptime, response times, and content reliability
- Engage with the teams responsible for supplier connectivity, content ingestion, and system monitoring, to ensure smooth integration and uninterrupted marketplace availability
- Partner with Solution Engineering, Agency Teams and Product Development to evolve core platform capabilities, drive scalability improvements, and maintain alignment with business growth targets
- Manage day-to-day operational performance through defined KPIs and SLAs, ensuring measurable improvement in pricing and availability accuracy, error reduction, timeouts, look to book and booking success rates
- Collaborate with Infrastructure teams to optimize traffic routing, throttling, caching and cache accuracy, and rate optimization strategies that balance system performance and content freshness
Supplier Connectivity
- Ensure suppliers achieve optimal shopping and booking connectivity performance from effective onboarding, proactive monitoring, and ongoing technical support to ensure alignment with Sabre’s commercial and marketplace strategies
Content Quality & Enrichment
- Champion initiatives to improve static content quality, ensuring accurate and comprehensive property descriptions, amenities, and richer image and media content, improving visual consistency and merchandising across the hotel, car and rail portfolio
- Collaborate with Product and Operations resources to enhance property normalization, mapping accuracy, and data enrichment pipelines, ensuring best-in-class supplier representation
Operational Excellence & Issue Management
- Lead commercial engagement during incident management and root-cause analysis for technical and business-level issues across the LGS ecosystem
- Oversee proactive monitoring, triage, and resolution of connectivity failures, booking discrepancies, and content gaps
- Partner with Engineering and Support teams to establish preventive controls and automated detection for recurring patterns or systemic issues
- Utilize BigQuery and performance analytics to identify trends in agency and supplier behavior, API performance, and content health; drive actionable improvements based on insights
- Ensure seamless communication with supplier partners and internal stakeholders during incidents, escalations, and recovery processes
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with and mentor a global team of subject matter experts, analysts and specialists across multiple geographies
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and operational excellence within the organization
- Collaborate across Product, Commercial, and Technical leadership to define operational priorities and align execution with Sabre’s strategic initiatives
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in travel technology or platform operations, including 5+ years leading large, global operations or connectivity teams
- Proven track record managing complex supplier ecosystems in lodging, car, or other distribution environments
- Experience improving operational reliability, data quality, and API-driven performance at scale
Skills & Competencies
- Operational Leadership: Ability to define strategy, drive execution, and deliver measurable results across global teams
- Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of hotel and car distribution systems, API connectivity models, and marketplace dynamics
- Performance Optimization: Experience managing throttling, caching and cache accuracy, and system load optimization
- Content & Data Quality: Strong background in property data normalization, image and static content enrichment, and data validation
- Issue Management: Skilled in incident response, RCA processes, and cross-functional problem solving
- Analytical Thinking: Expertise with BigQuery, SQL, and performance dashboards to identify trends and drive decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective working with Product, Tech, and Commercial teams to align operational execution with strategic goals
- Supplier Partnership: Excellent communication and relationship management skills with global supplier and partner networks
- People Development: Proven ability to work with key resources across multiple areas in high-performing, distributed teams
- Executive Communication: Clear, concise communicator capable of translating technical operations into business impact
