The Director of Customer Master Data is responsible for leading the strategy, governance, and operational excellence of customer master data across the United States Medical Product and Distribution (USMPD) organization as part of the Commercial Enablement team. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of customer data, enabling optimized commercial execution, compliance, and business growth.

Customer Master Data is not just operational—it is strategic infrastructure. It enables personalized customer interactions, informed decision-making, and seamless financial transactions.

Customer Master Data refers to a comprehensive set of business defined data and attributes. This foundational unified view of customers enables the business to manage customer relationships, facilitate transactions, personalize interactions, make informed decisions and support various business operations including but not limited to accurate pricing, reporting, and financial transaction management. 

Commercial Enablement is responsible for elevating the customer experience by providing essential capabilities, tools, and processes that optimize commercial execution to drive profitability and growth. The Director of Customer Master Data will lead a team of data analysts, define current and future state master data requirements, manage daily operations, and drive strategic improvements in data quality, stewardship, governance, and integration.

This role collaborates with Sales, Finance, IT, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure customer data supports business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee customer master data programs and daily operations
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, inclusive team (on and offshore)
  • Establish and manage data governance policies, standards, and KPIs
  • Communicate data quality results and business impacts to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, IT, Compliance, and other teams to align customer data with business needs
  • Lead initiatives to improve data quality, stewardship, and integration
  • Empower team to drive cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis
  • Guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities through data insights
  • Prioritize organizational objectives and ensure timely execution of key initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in data management, analytics, IT, finance, pricing, or related quantitative field preferred
  • Experience supporting CAH Medical Segment or familiarity with Medical Segment platforms and tools highly preferred
  • 5 years in leadership role working cross functionally preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in master data management, data governance, and/or data quality frameworks
  • Strong track record operating with large data sets
  • Excellent communication and cross-organizational collaboration skills
  • Experience leading large programs and/or projects with a high degree of accountability
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data management tool, or relevant platforms (e.g. SAP, Salesforce, Data Warehouse, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of the organization, up to c-suite
  • If local to headquarters- Ability to work from headquarters 3x per week

Anticipated salary range: $105,600 - $188,500

The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
