In this role, you will be based in our North America head office in Lone Tree, CO.

The Director of Consumer Marketing & Engagement leads a critical growth function within Cochlear North America’s (CNA) Marketing organization, responsible for driving awareness, education, and confidence among potential candidates throughout their hearing health journey, from awareness to action, and ultimately, to a life of hearing possibilities.

This role is central to transforming how hearing loss is understood and addressed, empowering individuals to take proactive steps toward hearing solutions. As the largest and most mature Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) market globally, CNA plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of DTC marketing across Cochlear’s global footprint.

The Consumer Marketing & Engagement team manages a significant multimillion-dollar business encompassing paid media, candidate education and collateral, nurture and re-engagement strategies, the Volunteer Program, and bilingual candidate marketing. The team also leads the DTC Lead Market Model, an enterprise initiative designed to scale best practices, optimize resources and accelerate impact across defined global key markets.

Success in this role requires a strong enterprise mindset, a deep commitment to cross-functional collaboration, and a digital-first approach. The Director will work closely with the Enterprise Digital team to explore and implement innovative ways to engage candidates through digital platforms, ensuring that digital is not just a channel, but a core enabler of scalable, personalized and measurable marketing experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated business plan to grow candidate awareness and solution adoption through direct-to-consumer channels.
  • Drive brand awareness and affinity through targeted campaigns, volunteer engagement and co-promotional partnerships.
  • Analyze market share, brand preference, and customer value proposition metrics to inform strategic decisions and optimize performance.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate across the Marketing Leadership Team to drive enterprise alignment, scalable processes, and strategic execution.
  • Balance short-term performance with long-term strategic planning across 12-, 24-, and 36-month horizons.


Key Requirements

To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities in your application and at interview:

  • BS/BA in a related field required
  • 10+ years of strategic leadership in marketing, product management, or sales within a regulated healthcare/medical device industry
  • 2+ years of experience with Cochlear preferred
  • Strong business acumen and service delivery expertise
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational and delegation skills with a focus on accountability

  • Pay Range in the United States: $185,000 - $195,000 based upon experience, as well as an annual bonus opportunity of 20% of base salary. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
  • Benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance as well as 401(K) matching with immediate vesting, Paid Time Off, tuition reimbursement, maternity and paternity leave, Employee Stock Purchase Plan and pet insurance.
