Associate/ Professor of Communication
Position
The School of Communication seeks a faculty member to lead the Center for Communication, Culture, and Change, as Director. This is a tenure eligible position, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, in Communication. The position will start August 15th, 2026.
Center for Communication, Culture, and Change
The Center for Communication, Culture, and Change (4C) focuses on promoting positive social change through communication research, practice, and evaluation. The Center serves as a valuable venue benefiting students and faculty through collaborative and compelling scholarly and creative projects that address contemporary challenges. This focus stems from the premise that communication is a transformative practice and a powerful tool for catalyzing social change that transcends cultural barriers and crosses global boundaries. The mission of the Center’s research and creative portfolio is to advance the field of communication by contributing original, socially relevant, and impactful creative activity and research.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in Communication or relevant field
Distinguished record of scholarship, creative work, or educational leadership meriting appointment as tenured Associate or Full Professor at the University of Miami
Expertise relevant to communication and social change
Desired Experience
Proven strategic and visionary leadership in an academic or research setting
Demonstrated success in securing external funding and managing budgets
Ability to build interdisciplinary collaborations and engage stakeholders
Experience mentoring faculty, staff, and students in inclusive environments
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
Leading as Director of the Center for Communication, Culture, & Change
Advancing research and creative work on communication, media, culture, and social change
Creating initiatives to build financial support for the Center, faculty, and students
Managing operations, including staffing, programming, and budgeting
Enhancing visibility and impact of the Center
Cultivating relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners
Maintaining an active research portfolio in communication scholarship
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
Advising and mentoring students and faculty
Contributing to the intellectual life and service needs of the department, school, and university
Promoting an inclusive and collaborative team culture
