What you'll be doing

You will be joining the Core Banking & Payments development team. As the Director, Application Development you will develop, integrate & implement fraud solutions that meet the needs of our retail financial transactions processing roadmaps. This will cover all of our Fraud Systems (PRM, ACTV & FMCA). The role applies leadership skills and technical expertise to direct, manage and support Tier 1 critical applications on a day to day basis, leading internal change initiatives in alignment with ongoing technological changes.

In this role you will work with our business partners, in supporting the definition of the initiatives. You will also be building ongoing partnerships with key technology and business partners, providing influence and guidance to ensure alignment of initiatives. This role will also provide support and direction to Business Analysts, Quality Analyst (testers) and Performance Tuning groups within Core Banking and Payments.   

You will lead a team of passionate and seasoned professionals, providing oversight and coaching, enablement as they execute on our purpose and strategy and you will work in close collaboration with our technology and business partners bringing clear purpose and vision for the collective success of the team.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategic Application Development & Delivery: Direct, manage and deliver all aspects of application development for small to complex projects. Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business objectives including currency and capacity. Facilitate smooth workflow of the team and ensure high standards and quality of development work.

  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with technology teams, internal and external stakeholders and CIBC vendors/suppliers/partners to translate technology innovation trends, improvement, process effectiveness and cost efficiencies into actionable initiatives for our applications

  • Strong Leadership: Provide strategic insight, leading the technical team through modernization into newer technologies, foster out of the box thinking to drive cost-effective and business enabling solutions. Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. 

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in: building highly scalable, highly reliable services that operate 7/24/365. Must have 8+ years of professional, hands on experience in Fraud and Application Integration using Java, GOlang, XML, microservices, API’s and DevSecOps. You have 8+ years’ experience leading and managing complex IT projects, while supporting multiple team members, both onshore and offshore. Strong leadership, mentoring/coaching and motivational skills.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
