Summary
Performs the delegated nursing interventions to the stable dialysis patient under direct supervision of the registered nurse. This may include but not limited to; initiation of dialysis, monitoring patient during treatments, discontinuing treatments, proper operation of the dialysis equipment, gathering and documenting pertinent patient information, and responding to alarms.Job Description
The Dialysis Technician provides direct patient care and technical support for hemodialysis treatments performed within the Dialysis Den located inside the Sunset Skilled Nursing Facility. As part of the Home Dialysis Program, this role operates Home Hemodialysis machines in a skilled nursing setting, ensuring safe and effective treatments for residents. The technician works closely with the Dialysis Nurse and Skilled Nursing Facility staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
Set up, test, and operate Home Hemodialysis machines and related water treatment equipment within the SNF environment.
Prepare the dialysis station and ensure infection control and safety standards are met.
Obtain and record pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis vital signs and treatment data.
Assist with patient connection and disconnection under the supervision of the dialysis nurse.
Monitor treatment parameters and respond promptly to alarms or patient changes.
Perform water and equipment quality checks as required by policy and regulation.
Clean, disinfect, and maintain dialysis machines and work areas after each treatment.
Support patient and staff education regarding dialysis procedures and safety.
Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an approved Dialysis Technician training program or equivalent experience.
Certification as a CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician) preferred or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
Previous dialysis experience preferred (chronic, acute, or home modalities).
Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and patient-centered focus.
Qualifications
