DG BOSS: Telemetry System Operator (FN)

  • Manages and operates water supply systems including all systems, components, and monitoring equipment between aquifers and WTPs including but not limited to water wells, transfer tanks, and associated pumps; telemetry system includes but is not limited to, probe sensors, motorized valves, motor control centers, float switches, a graphic control panel, control console, level transducers, a Human Machine Interface, and SCADA monitoring to ensure water demands are met continuously while maintaining the integrity of the freshwater aquifer.
  • Operates the telemetry system and related equipment in the proper sequence continuously and maintains and provides to the Government upon request a Daily Telemetry Log to document both normal and abnormal operating conditions and/or malfunctions; records shall include at a minimum data record of operations of good pumps, transfer stations, and motor control centers.
  • Maintaining the telemetry system equipment IAW the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Calibrates instruments and chemical feeders.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Telemetry or supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system operator must have the following qualifications:
  • a) Technically skilled in the installation, connection, programming, editing, debugging, calibration, testing, and adjustment of the telemetry system.
  • b) Knowledgeable of the principles of computer operations, solid-state fundamentals, and logic circuits by experience, training, or both.
  • c) Capable of operating, maintaining, and calibrating the telemetry system and associated equipment, including but not limited to analytical instruments, probes, and sensors.
  • d) Competent in analyzing malfunctions in the control circuits and making appropriate repairs.
  • Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion of multiple tasks, under strict deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work quickly and in a potentially high-stress environment.
  • Comfort with multi-tasking and handling multiple requests from different individuals and departments.
  • Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with the following license codes (B, B1, B2, C, D) and be able to operate the assigned vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING

  • Satisfactorily completed the training course and exam provided by the Navy Operator Certification Authority (NOCA) Board.
    • Level 1 Overseas Drinking Water Treatment System Operator
    • Level 1 Overseas Drinking Water Distribution System Operator

EDUCATION:

  • Must have at least a High School diploma, Vocational or Technical course Graduate related to Instrumentation and Control is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience working in water treatment and distribution facilities.
  • Must have experience in PLC programming and calibration of instruments.
