Title:

DG BOSS: Mechanical Fitter (FN)

  • Performs maintenance and repair of facilities and mechanical equipment in a journeyman capacity under the direct supervision of Mechanical Supervisor/Superintendent
  • To be fully able from plans and diagrams fabricate pipe work systems to include threaded and welded pipework
  • Field install welds, including duct work, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting and other parts
  • To carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools.
  • Tests equipment and machinery found in the facility’s environment, such as pumps, compressors, motors, fans, shop support equipment.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using, callipers, micrometres, and other measuring instruments.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Executes required preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Performs inspections required by the company or client.
  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools.
  • Ability to fabricate and install pipe work systems
  • Practical skills for repairing and maintaining equipment
  • Must speak, read, and understand the English Language fluently.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Must have a valid Professional Driver’s License with at least Restriction Code 2.

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING:

  • Certificates required:
  • Welding and Fabrication Technology
  • Pipe Fitting

EDUCATION:

  • Must be at least High school, Technical or Vocational Course graduate

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least three (5) years’ experiences in installation, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment.
