The DevOps / ML Ops Engineer will play a critical role in automating, orchestrating, and optimizing the build, test, and deployment of data and machine learning services within a highly regulated financial environment. This position is responsible for ensuring secure, compliant, and resilient operations, with a strong focus on regulatory adherence, risk management, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate will drive innovation while maintaining strict controls and governance required by the financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Automation & Orchestration
Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines with integrated segregation of duties and approval workflows.
Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and artifact management systems to enable consistent, repeatable deployments.
Implement blue-green and canary deployment strategies, including automated rollback mechanisms to minimize risk and downtime.
Ensure all automation adheres to financial industry compliance and security standards.
Observability & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Develop robust monitoring solutions for logs, metrics, and distributed traces, ensuring real-time visibility and rapid incident detection.
Establish and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets tailored for financial applications.
Create and maintain incident response playbooks that comply with regulatory requirements for incident management and reporting.
Support post-incident reviews and root cause analyses in alignment with audit and compliance standards.
Release Governance & Compliance
Manage comprehensive evidence capture, approval tracking, and change controls throughout promotion flows.
Integrate with Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes, maintaining detailed audit trails and regulatory documentation.
Ensure releases meet all internal and external regulatory compliance requirements, including SOX, SOC, and GDPR where applicable.
Facilitate regular audits and ensure readiness for regulatory examinations with no major findings.
Qualifications:
Required
4+ years of experience in DevOps or SRE roles, ideally within financial services or other regulated industries.
Expertise in scripting languages, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud/platform automation tools.
Strong understanding of security best practices and regulatory controls.
Preferred
Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with segregation of duties and CAB integration.
Demonstrated ability to produce and manage audit evidence for regulatory compliance.
Hands-on experience supporting regulated incident management and rollback processes.
Knowledge of financial data privacy, security standards, and risk management frameworks.
Success Metrics
Consistent achievement of pipeline reliability and lead time targets for changes, as defined by financial industry standards.
High SLO attainment, reduced Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), and strong risk mitigation practices.
Successful completion of internal and external audits, with no major findings or compliance issues.
Other Qualifications:
As per MUFG’s work policy for all personnel, candidates must work onsite for 4 days and 1 day remotely out of either Jersey City, NJ, Tampa, FL or Tempe, AZ office.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $124K - $145K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
