The Development Events Manager will lead the planning and execution of events at Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL). The Events Manager will establish the purpose, theme, and budget for events to meet departmental goals and partner with Development team members to develop donor strategies to expand and engage PPIL’s network of supporters. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Development. 

Essential Functions:
1. Manage an annual Chicago-based spring fundraiser for PPIL
2. Manage an annual Chicago-based fall political fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Illinois Action (PPIA) or Planned Parenthood Illinois Action PAC
3. Manage an annual late winter/early spring cultivation and stewardship event for donors of $1,000+
4. Manage program to secure event sponsorships from individuals, corporations, and vendors.
5. Work with the External Affairs team in creating event themes, appropriate and compelling marketing materials (save-the-date, invitations, website) and communications (social media, e-blasts, media), for events, as well as program and remarks
6. Coordinate and manage event materials production; including, but not limited to, mailing lists, RSVP lists, mailings, evites, event acknowledgements, pre-event briefing for staff and board members, and revenue and expense tracking.
7. Oversee cultivation events throughout the state, including house parties, donor luncheons with senior leadership team/program staff, and health center openings/tours and manage logistics and secure speakers, if necessary
8. Manage peer-to-peer solicitation efforts in support of fundraising events
9. Support third-party fundraisers that benefit PPIL, PPIA, PPIA PAC, PPIA IE PAC, and PPI Votes
10. Provide on-site leadership for all day-of logistics at PPIL and PPIA-run events 
11. Manage event software set-up and ensure a smooth and efficient registration process and raffle sales (pre-event and at event) 
12. Manage relationships with event vendors, including venue, caterer, AV company, photographer, special guest/featured speaker’s team, and security
13. Manage event committees and co-chair outreach, communications, and reporting 
14. Work with PPIL’s volunteer lead to secure and train day-of-event volunteers
15. Work with Database Manager to ensure timely event tracking and gift entry in the donor database, as well as reconciliation of event revenue leading up to the event and post-event
16. Manage event follow-up, including donor communications, a post-event debrief, and reports on event ROI
17. Secure raffle items for an engaging on-site fundraising experience
18. Serve as the team lead for EveryAction (email, donation, and registration platform) and on an leadership team comprised of affiliate and national team members, which includes attending trainings, and collaborating with PPIL teams on EveryAction targeted emails and reports manager.

Other responsibilities:
1. In collaboration with the Director of Development, develop and manage stewardship program to engage donors throughout the calendar year through events, mailings, and personal outreach
2. Work with PPIA Future of Choice Committee on their annual fundraising event and other fundraising activities
3. Through these activities demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to PPIL core values of access, activism, care, confidentiality, diversity, excellence, integrity, respect, self-determination, and stewardship; practice these values in relations with internal and external customers.
4. Other duties as assigned

Supervisor: Director of Development

Status: Full-time, exempt from the overtime provisions of the wage and salary administration policies.


Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required

Experience: A minimum of three years of fundraising experience with event planning experience

Professional Qualities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A self-motivated team player who can energize and lead both staff and volunteers. Dedication, flexibility, attention to detail and creativity a must. Familiarity with fundraising software (Salesforce NPSP and email platforms experience strongly preferred) and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Canva. Must be willing to maintain a flexible work schedule including evening and weekend hours and limited state-wide travel.  Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. All candidates must have a commitment to operating goals of Planned Parenthood and possess the ability to contribute to the overall goals of the development department and organization.
