Position Title: Delivery  Truck Driver
Classification: General Retail Award – Level 2
Department: Cairns Region Family Stores
Status: Casual -   8am – 4pm Monday – Friday

The Role

Based at the Cairns Family Store, this position is responsible for the efficient and safe movement of goods to and from the store. Commencing in January 2026, the Delivery Driver will play a key role in supporting the overall productivity and mission of The Salvation Army Family Stores within the Cairns region.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Coordinate the collection and delivery of donated goods as directed by the Family Store Manager, following the established schedule and adhering to all WH&S manual handling procedures and protocols.
  • Follow a daily planner provided by the Family Store Manager  outlining all scheduled pick-ups and deliveries. 
  • Ensure that daily delivery and collection records are accurate, detailed, and kept up to date in the logbook.
  • Conduct loading, unloading, deliveries, and collections with care, efficiency, and in line with the set schedule.
  • Operate the company vehicle safely and responsibly to minimise risk, prevent damage or injury, and ensure the vehicle’s cleanliness, servicing, and maintenance are up to standard.
  • Maintain and rotate stock in line with required standards to ensure goods are stored appropriately.
  • Support and collaborate with Volunteers, fostering a courteous and productive environment that enhances both donor and volunteer experiences.
  • Participate in team activities and attend staff meetings as scheduled, contributing to a positive and effective team culture.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating or driving commercial vehicles.
  • Current and valid Queensland Driver’s Licence.
  • A good level of physical fitness, with the ability to perform tasks such as standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods. The role involves physical duties including pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and handling stock, as well as occasional ladder use — all in accordance with WH&S policies and procedures.
