Position Overview
PXC has refreshed its Data Strategy last March and has been a journey to aligning its operating model with its new ambitions. Today, the business is rethinking its approach to data architecture and data quality in an effort to identify and improve how we manage data.
The role of Data Strategy Implementation Lead is created as a 3-6 month contract to address current limitations and set the business up for success. It reports into the Data Quality Manager, and is part of the Strategy & Insights department.
This role is tasked with turning the high-level data strategy into operational excellence. Your primary focus is on delivering tangible outcomes within a concise timeframe—laying groundwork that will support ongoing data initiatives beyond the life of the contract.
In this role, you will closely collaborate with senior leaders, technical teams, and business stakeholders to ensure that the organisation’s approach to data management is structured, transparent, and robust.
Core Objectives
Firm Up Key Processes: Map, analyse, and refine core data processes—such as data intake, quality assurance, data usage, and lifecycle management—ensuring clarity, efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals.
Define Roles and Responsibilities: Develop and document a comprehensive matrix of data-related roles, clarifying accountabilities across business, technical, and governance functions. Facilitate workshops and consultations to resolve overlaps or gaps in responsibilities.
Create Essential Documentation: Deliver a complete suite of key documents, including process maps, responsibility assignment matrices (e.g., RACI), data governance guidelines, and operational procedures to ensure organisational alignment and continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with stakeholders across all business areas to capture existing practices and aspirations related to data management.
Assess current state and identify process inefficiencies, control gaps, and role ambiguities.
Design and document processes that are scalable and adaptable, supporting both current needs and future data ambitions.
Draft clear, accessible guidelines and training materials to support adoption and compliance.
Present findings, recommendations, and finalised documentation to executive leadership, ensuring buy-in and readiness for operational roll-out.
Success Criteria
Delivery of a robust suite of process and governance documentation, reviewed and approved by the Insights Director and the Chief Engineer.
Clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, reflected in responsibility matrices, reviewed and approved by the Insights Director and the Chief Engineer.
Implementation-ready process frameworks that enable efficient, compliant, and effective data management.
Positive stakeholder feedback on the clarity and usability of delivered outputs.
