Job Profile Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Data Platforms Delivery Lead to help drive the successful delivery of Chaucer’s new data platform. This hybrid role combines agile delivery leadership with elements of product ownership. Reporting to the Head of Data Platforms, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the platform’s technical components are delivered effectively and efficiently. Working closely with the Head of Data Product, you’ll translate strategic priorities into actionable delivery plans, ensuring the platform is built with quality, governance, and business value at its core.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Delivery & Execution
- Manage the delivery roadmap for the data platform, ensuring timely and high-quality execution of technical components.
- Coordinate across engineering, architecture, and infrastructure teams to manage dependencies and ensure platform readiness.
- Monitor delivery progress, manage risks, and escalate issues to the Head of Data Platforms as appropriate.
- Ensure that platform delivery aligns with Chaucer’s architectural standards, security policies, and operational readiness requirements.
Agile Delivery Leadership
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) across data platform squads.
- Coach and support cross-functional teams in agile best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Track delivery progress using agile metrics (velocity, burndown, throughput) and proactively manage risks and blockers.
Product Ownership Support
- Translate the Head of Data Product’s strategic vision into actionable delivery plans and prioritised backlogs.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure that data products meet business needs, regulatory requirements, and technical standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain transparency on delivery status, risks, and dependencies through regular updates and reporting.
- Support change management and adoption of new data capabilities across the organisation.
Team & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate internal squads and third-party partners to ensure cohesive and timely delivery.
- Support onboarding and capability uplift of internal teams to ensure long-term sustainability of the platform.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and recommend improvements to platform outputs, data processes, and data quality.
- Monitor performance of delivered use cases and iterate based on feedback and evolving needs.
- Proactively seek opportunities to drive efficiencies, reduce complexity, and maximise value from data.
Skills and Competencies
Essential:
- Proven experience working within data transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks and tooling.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including data engineers, analysts, and governance leads.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline desirable.
- Professional certifications in Agile delivery (e.g. Certified Scrum Master, SAFe, PMI-ACP) or data-related disciplines (e.g. DAMA, CDMP) desirable.
- Industry certifications in insurance domain desirable.
