What is the opportunity?

The Personal Banking Portfolio & Performance Management team plays an important role in helping the Operating Committee make decisions and align T&O resources accordingly within the financial plan to drive stronger connections between strategy, investment & delivery. We’re looking to expand our team with a Data Analyst that will add value to current portfolio reporting through dashboard solutions, data visualizations and enhance our project management tool capabilities (Planview). You will help identify opportunities to automate and simplify data gathering and drive insights from metrics as well as determine potential areas of cost savings and operational efficiency.

What will you do?

  • Build understanding of the Personal Banking businesses, concepts across project/portfolio management and business metrics, and technical capabilities in productivity and data visualization tools (e.g. Planview, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Delivering iterative and scalable reports based on available information and data sources
  • Produce reliable and accurate reporting and dashboard solutions (incl. portfolio financial reporting) which bring immediate and long-term value for stakeholders.
  • Provide administration for Personal Banking’s project management tools (Planview) and productivity tools (Tableau)
  • Perform data quality assessments of project portfolio data in Planview.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate data gathering, aggregate and drive insights from metrics as well as determine potential areas of cost savings and operational efficiency
  • Develop new automated solutions to improve productivity and efficiency by bringing best practices within RBC and other organizations
  • Working as part of a small team with a collective goal to drive business value
  • Proactively adding value through helping solve business problems through data visualization, analytics, and insight development.
  • Enable senior leadership to make informed decisions by providing them with relevant data and insights.
  • Monitor project spend against funding allocation, manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and drive transparency within the portfolio.  

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Confident and strong communicator with logical reasoning and critical thinking.
  • A curiosity to go “behind the curtain” to learn the problem and offer solutions.
  • Experience in data analysis and demonstrated use of productivity tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
  • Understanding of programming languages SQL, Python, writing macros) to support data integrations from various sources and drive visualization
  • Ability to work with large data sets and synthesize to drive meaningful insights.

Nice to have:

  • Planview experience
  • Intermediate technical skills (writing macros / coding / database development, understanding of Power BI a plus)
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in project/portfolio management with financial background
  • 1 to 2 years of experience of stakeholder management
