Position Summary
Work directly for South Jersey Gas assisting in the growth and success of the utility sales team by processing and managing completed applications for new natural gas service to homes and businesses using Salesforce, customer databases and IT systems. In this role, the Customer Advocate serves as the primary point of contact for residential, commercial and new construction customers during the installation process and will ensure the installation is delivered on time and within customer expectations.
The Customer Advocate will serve as the principal communication conduit and post-sale support for the Sales Representative and the home owner/business owner/builder. The Customer Advocate owns the sales support relationship and assists in the management of gas service installation by focusing on the coordination of internal systems and company personnel. It is the responsibility of Customer Advocate to guarantee that the customer expectations are clearly represented and met and to communicate proactively with customers to update them on their project’s status.
Essential Functions:
- The Customer Advocate will serve as the liaison between the customer and the multiple internal departments to facilitate the processing of completed applications in a timely and efficient manner with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
- This position is responsible for entering completed applications for natural gas service and any supporting documentation into Salesforce and monitoring/managing the application through the duration of the process until the service line is successfully installed and the property is satisfactorily restored.
- It is the responsibility of this position to educate the customer on the installation process, setting clear and honest expectations of timelines and activities.
- This role proactively coordinates customers’ installation activities across functions within the division and the company to ensure that projects are on time and meeting customers’ expectations.
- This position tracks project statuses using internal IT systems (Maximo, CC&B and Salesforce), keeping the customer informed of the progress of their individual project at regular intervals.
- This individual will ensure Salesforce is updated immediately with all interactions and communications related to the installation.
- This position actively participates in work management meetings to influence positive customer outcomes and addresses any pre- or post-installation issues that may pertain to scheduling, construction or restoration.
Qualifications
Required Background:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Typically requires 0- 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Background:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing or related field preferred.
- Experience in customer service and project management with a focus on affecting change.
- Experience with CRM's, preferably Salesforce.
- Working knowledge of Work Management and Asset Tracking, Customer Information System (CIS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technologies, Customer Care and Billing (CC&B), and Maximo.
Required Skills:
- Excellent computer skills; must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Experience in process coordination or workflow management
- Proven success in building business relationships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive problem solver skilled at issue resolution
- Very well organized and detail oriented
- Extremely adept at follow through
- A strong customer orientation
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a short period of time and work in a fast paced environment

Compensation Range:
$23 - 37
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
