Cost Engineer/ Estimator

Summary:

BHS is seeking a Cost Engineer (or Estimator) to support Product-Sales and Engineering groups within the organization. The Cost Engineer will be tasked with developing comprehensive Technical Cost Estimates for BHS’ line of Industrial-Mechanical recycling equipment and turnkey recycling facilities.

A qualified Cost Engineer will have a comprehensive knowledge of estimating tools such as Syteline, Excel, or other estimating systems. A bonus would be to have a working knowledge of machinery, construction, or industrial systems as that will transfer into the recycling field. Experience in finance or accounting or familiarity working with CAD models a major plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Product-Sales Operations Manager, the Estimator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop cost estimates from detailed drawings, BOMS, or limited concepts with high confidence to meet team’s expectations
  • Engineer estimations from the ground up based upon knowledge of manufacturing processes to include cost development for raw materials and other processing costs to ensure consistent project scope
  • Develop cross-department relationships with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management
  • Participate in actual-to-estimate post-job audit process for continuous improvement
  • Validate estimate assumptions to all organizational levels with supporting details and documentation
  • Improve the cost process with a strong drive for leveraging technology to improve processes
  • Prioritize multiple estimate requests quickly and accurately

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience preferred
  • 3D CAD experience preferred (AutoCAD/Inventor)
  • Experience using cost estimating software
  • Construction or manufacturing experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook required
  • Critical analysis skills
