As a member of the Credit Editorial, Publishing, and Media Relations team in Chicago, the Copy Editor will be responsible for editing and producing financial services research reports and other documents on a timely basis. This position reports to the Vice President, Credit Editorial and Media Relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate, high-quality editing and proofreading of documents, including press releases, credit rating reports, industry research, and analytical methodologies, in a timely manner across multiple geographies with regional spelling and styles.

  • Format templated documents within Word and transfer tables and charts from Excel into Word as per Morningstar DBRS standards.

  • Maintain relationships with analysts, designers, management, and other stakeholders to produce and enhance content.

  • Ensure all deliverables comply with internal guidelines for style, conventions, and brand management.

  • Fulfill document requests and manage deadlines for several analysts and projects at once.

  • Work on call (evenings and weekends) on a weekly rotation in order to meet urgent business requirements.

  • Participate in global team meetings as required.
     

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of experience as an editor, preferably in the financial services industry or in business journalism.

  • Strong copy editing, writing, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

  • Capacity to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator is an asset.

  • University degree in a related field.

  • Preference is given to candidates with a basic understanding of the debt market, securitization, and the credit rating process.

Total Cash Compensation Range

$58,150.00 - 98,875.00 USD Annual

Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
