Overview


PacBio is seeking an experienced Compensation Consultant to lead the configuration, testing, and execution of our annual compensation cycle in Workday. This project-based role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in Workday Advanced Compensation and a proven ability to drive complex, cross-functional processes involving HR, Finance, and IT.


The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment, has a sharp eye for data accuracy, and is comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities


Lead Workday Configuration & Execution:

  • Configure, test, and manage the annual compensation cycle (base pay, bonus, and equity) within Workday.
  • Partner with internal Workday consultants and HRIS teams to ensure system readiness and accuracy.

Bonus Program Management:

  • Manage and validate bonus calculations, including both company-wide and individual performance components.
  • Ensure payout accuracy through detailed data reconciliation and validation processes.
     

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Finance to align compensation budgets and funding.
  • Partner with HR to ensure pay recommendations reflect PacBio’s compensation philosophy.
  • Liaise with IT to maintain data integrity and ensure seamless integration across systems.

    

Data Integrity & Compliance:

  • Conduct audits and validations across HR, Finance, and IT systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation for audit purposes and process continuity.

    

Training & Communication:

  • Develop and deliver training materials for managers and HR partners that align with PacBio’s compensation philosophy and guiding principles, including: Step-by-step guidance on Workday compensation actions
  • Create and maintain process documentation for future compensation cycles.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compensation management, with significant hands-on experience in Workday Advanced Compensation configuration and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage full compensation cycle execution, from configuration through payout.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with HR, Finance, IT, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple workstreams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Engagement Details

  • Timeline: Approximately 4 months (November 2025 – March 2026)
  • Time Commitment: Variable (0.5–1.0 FTE) depending on phase; higher during configuration, validation, and payout periods
  • Estimated Rate: $120–$150/hour, based on experience and market rates for senior compensation professionals with Workday expertise

Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States without the need for present or future sponsorship.
