Job Summary

Position responsible for answering telephones and greeting/assisting customers and visitors.

In this role, the incumbent serves as a greeter, requiring significant standing and walking. Responsibilities include confirming patient room numbers and providing escorts, as well as delivering items to patients. A thorough understanding of the hospital layout is essential, and coverage will be provided in the Main, North, or South Lobby areas.

We seek a compassionate and outgoing individual with strong emotional intelligence and social skills. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to recognize subtle cues, such as the look of loss, and provide empathetic support. A key aspect of this role is understanding the demanding nature of a hospital environment, where availability and responsiveness are crucial 24/7.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: (None).

Licenses/Certifications: (None).

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Six (6) months customer service experience.
  • Pleasant phone etiquette.
  • Ability to type 40 wpm.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Greets customers and visitors and directs to appropriate personnel.
  • Answers departmental telephones, screening and directing calls appropriately.
  • Performs basic clerical duties as necessary: typing, filing, distributing mail; photocopying, etc.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
