Community Center Aide

Park & Recreation Part Time

Pay Range: $18.00/hr. - $21.76/hr.

Several part-time Community Center Aide positions are available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department to assist with programs at Southwest, Handley Meadowbrook, Riverside, Atatiana Carr-Jefferson, Chisholm Trail and RD Evans Community Centers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Six months of experience in recreation or athletic services and programs; some custodial experience required.
  • Valid Texas driver's license, depending on assignment.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification during the first six months of employment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills
  • Experience working with children ages 5 – 13
  • Experience utilizing ActiveNet or other Recreation Management software’s
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

The Community Center Aide’s job responsibilities include:

  • Assists in maintaining recreational facility. Organizes appropriate materials and supplies needed for facility activities. Participates in the promotion of educational, cultural and recreational activities.
  • Performs various maintenance and custodial duties.
  • Conducts weight room orientations, instructs fitness classes. Orients customers on proper techniques for fitness equipment when assigned to fitness center.
  • Assists programs and activities for the afterschool program.
  • Issues and assists schedule preparation for the use of facilities by various groups.
  • Monitors the community center and/or public facility maintenance; notifies supervisor of needed facility and outside repairs.
  • Issues and monitors use of maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Obtains membership cards from all participants; collects activity fees and issues receipts.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports concerning participants, programs, and/or facilities.
  • Provides clerical duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting, depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
