Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Community Affairs, the Community Affairs Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of internal and external community affairs initiatives . 
This position coordinates with peers within the department and subject matter experts across the businesses to ensure community affairs initiatives are accurate, informative, and ultimately supportive of broad corporate initiatives.
Initiatives will include interaction with local governments, non-profits and other key stakeholders in the community.
This position has high visibility publicly and will interact with company leaders. Will also represent the company in the community, as needed.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
•Execute the Vistra Corporate Giving Policy to address community needs through investments that provide meaningful, direct, and sustainable social benefit and align with our business priorities. Execute media response and internal communications in crisis communications situations.  
•Coordinate community affairs projects with limited supervision. 
•Propose community affairs strategies and tactics and work directly within other departments to accomplish tasks.
•Maintains records for all contributions and summarizes expenditures on an annual basis for tax and reporting purposes. 
•Conduct some proactive community outreach as needed.
•Research and analyze community affairs-related data, such as new charitable organizations and local government policies.
•Write materials in strict adherence to company style and Associated Press Stylebook.
•Maintain a working understanding of current events along with industry news and trends. 
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
•Seven to 10 years of relevant work experience in community affairs, public relations, economic development
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Familiarity with local government, non-profits
•Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills 
•Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task projects
•Knowledge of energy industry and/or competitive businesses
•HS Diploma or equivalency
