Code Compliance Intern

The Code Compliance Department for the City of Georgetown is offering one paid internship position to help support day-to-day operations, administrative tasks, and investigative research that ensure the City’s codes and regulations are upheld.

This internship will provide opportunities to build/expand the candidate's portfolio through participation in projects and initiatives that will produce writing materials, testimonials, and project samples.

The student intern would be working primarily in an office environment at the Public Safety Operations and Training Center (PSOTC) under the supervision of the Chief Code Compliance Officer. The internship’s anticipated start date is November 17th, 2025, and the anticipated end date is February 6th, 2026. The internship is 15 hours per week.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Mailing Certified Letters daily (includes adding postage)

  • Stock printers with paper & envelopes daily

  • Schedule meetings per supervisor

  • Online Research - Code Officer processes used by other cities

  • Verify MGO Cases are complete and closed

  • Record Keeping:

    • File paperwork (property liens, lien releases and court packets alphabetically)

    • Print addresses on violation envelopes

  • Investigations:

    • Research property ownership, business ownership, and mailing addresses using online resources (Williamson County Appraisal District and Texas Secretary of State)

    • Research Local HOA contacts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience:

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of office operations, certified mail processing, record keeping, and scheduling, with experience conducting online research and verifying municipal case completeness.

  • Knowledge of investigative research, property and business records, public databases, and effective filing and correspondence management for administrative and legal processes.

Skills in:

  • Punctuality and reliability, with the ability to follow through on service-oriented assignments.

SCHEDULE

  • The internship will consist of 15 hours per week.

  • The start date of the internship is anticipated to be November 17th, 2025, but remains flexible with the possible extension through February 6th, 2026.

  • Deadlines and schedules will be developed with the student and supervisor.

  • Dependable transportation is needed.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.

EMPLOYMENT TESTING
Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing, criminal background investigation and driving record check.

HIRING RANGE: $17.49 - $21.91 hourly.
