Position Summary


Reporting to the Senior Director of Governance & Portfolio Management, this position is for an IT operations change agent on Iron Mountain's digital transformation journey. We are seeking a Cloud FinOps Lead with a strong understanding of cloud FinOps concepts and best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience planning FinOps initiatives and driving cost optimization practices across multiple teams.This role requires a combination of technical cloud knowledge, finance experience, and strong business communication skills. The Cloud FinOps Practitioner must be able to
consider technology, business processes, and finance governance policies while performing their duties.The candidate will help ensure compliance with corporate standards and be capable of articulating FinOps best practices to a variety of stakeholders. There will be times when the candidate will need to encourage and influence colleagues to adopt new ways of working where cloud costs are a primary consideration.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities


Identify cost saving opportunities across the business, through utilizing Iron Mountain’s FinOps tools, and engaging with dispersed engineering teams to enact positive changes.
Cultivating a FinOps First Culture and driving organisational change management to embed cost-aware practices (“Shift-Left” ideology) across engineering teams, ensuring solutions are built with cost-awareness and efficiency.

Enhance/automate our financial reporting processes to reduce manual efforts and improve using Generative AI and RPA to accuracy while Collaborating with the product lead to create an accurate long term forecast.
Work collaboratively with the Cloud Operations Lead and Principal Architect to plan and carry out new organization-wide FinOps processes and schemes, to enable continual improvement.
Create short and digestible FinOps training guides to increase knowledge within engineering teams.
Support colleagues in setting up cloud cost anomaly alerts, including offering guidance on how to respond to alerts.
Proactively identify underutilized cloud accounts and resources and work with engineering teams to carry out resizing or shutdowns where appropriate.
Driving Cost Efficiency & Accountability: Develop and implement frameworks, systems, and tools to create a culture of ownership and accountability for infrastructure costs.
Provide guidance to colleagues on how to extract the most value from Iron Mountain’s FinOps tools, for example how to generate reports and dashboards.
Drive a focus on Unit Economics and KPI Management
Conduct centralized regular touch points with high-spend engineering teams to enable cost visibility, knowledge sharing and cost reduction reviews.


Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:


Number of Years of Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a FinOps or cloud financial role, including Cloud Financial Management (CFM), or cloud cost optimization, preferably in a large enterprise/product.. Candidates must be able to demonstrate FinOps knowledge, and
technical cloud conceptual understanding. Core previous experience may be from related fields of specialism e.g. engineering, technical delivery, or finance.


Required and Preferred Skills:


Strong grasp of cloud FinOps best practices and the utilization of FinOps cost management tooling e.g. Cloudability, CloudZero or CloudHealth.
Keen understanding of cloud technologies and core service offering within GCP, AWS and or Azure which drive cost. Possessing a high-level understanding of common cloud services and their pricing models is required, but the ability to carry out hands-on coding or offer architectural advice is not, as the Cloud FinOps Ambassador would work in a multi-disciplinary technical cloud team, where they would collaborate with Engineers or Architects where required.
Previous experience devising and enacting IT organizational change initiatives, preferably within FinOps.
Exceptional customer service skills, in addition to extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Must be able to communicate effectively (influencing, requirements gathering, reaching mutually beneficial agreements between engineering teams and FinOps governance).
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, and capable of prioritizing team workloads.
Comfortable working both independently when required, with seeking guidance from and working collaboratively with other team members when needed.
Hands-on technical experience with GCP or AWS, whether engineer, architecture, or technical project management or delivery.
Hands-on working experience FinOps Tools such as Cloudability, CloudZero, CloudHealth.
Customer-focused, which means respectful, thoughtful, attention to detail, strong finishing skills, best-in-class customer service.
Keeps up to date with FinOps best practices, such as having attended events or carried out FinOps training or certification.


Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security/ or related field or equivalent experience.

Reasonably expected salary range: $91,100.00 - $121,400.00
