The Cloud Engineer - Enterprise Data Security is a technical contributor on the Enterprise Data Security Team, whose mission it is to support enterprise data loss prevention goals, support data security posture management solutions, data privacy related initiatives, and related data security platforms. This specific position is responsible for the technical platforms and related standards that support the Enterprise Data Security team’s mission.

This includes subject-matter leadership for the operation and stewardship of data security processes that detect, prevent, and respond to threats to Ferguson’s IT infrastructure and services. Technology platforms include operating and/or integrating with Security Incident Management, Threat Intelligence, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Email Security, Firewalls, DDoS prevention, Wireless Security, URL Filtering, Intrusion Prevention, and related systems. This position works directly with IT, headquarters, branch management, and with external business partners to achieve the necessary business goals.

This position requires strong partnership with IT, Security, business, and SOC and other business partners, to ensure that Ferguson can execute its business plans.

Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support data discovery, scanning, and classification efforts, ensuring regulated data is identified, mapped, and governed across systems.
  • Collaborate across teams to maintain Ferguson’s Data Privacy Platform for DSAR workflows, preference center, opt-out signals, cookie/GPC compliance, and enterprise integrations.
  • Provide guidance on remediation activities when compliance gaps are identified.
  • Collaborate across internal teams such as GRC, Incident Response, and internal IT teams to define data protection strategies.
  • Architect, implement, and manage enterprise-grade DLP solutions to protect sensitive data.
  • Support adoption of advanced analytics, AI/ML, and behavioral detection capabilities for insider threat and DLP use cases.
  • Serve as the escalation point for high severity data security issues and inquiries.
  • Support enterprise compliance reporting through metrics, dashboards, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Provide domain expertise to management, business areas, and organizational IT teams regarding data loss prevention controls and monitoring.
  • Ensure team documentation is populated with resolutions, workarounds, known issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned DLP/Data Security solutions to team members, internal customers, and related teams, providing guidance and answering inquiries to clarify the work activities.
  • Design, test, deploy, tune, and maintain DLP alert policies.
  • Analyze, review, and investigate alerts from deployed technologies to provide key data points to other Cybersecurity programs and key executive partners.
  • Develop and maintain sensitivity labels corresponding to policy.
  • Apply DLP rule sets across multiple platforms.
  • Assist in development and enhancement of incident response playbooks relevant to DLP incident handling expectations.
  • Work with multi-functional business collaborators to understand the sensitivity of their data and how they can support the business to fulfill their Data Protection Needs.
  • The ability to compile, communicate, and drive policy recommendations across multiple functional groups to minimize organizational risk.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify performance bottlenecks and help optimize system performance through monitoring insights and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with teams to ensure systems are fully integrated and perform optimally.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with platform vendors to expedite issue resolutions and review offerings that provide value to business.
  • Stay up-to-date with new DLP technologies, industry guidelines, and emerging trends, contributing to the evolution of DLP practices and tools to enhance overall system reliability and performance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a data security or data privacy related role including responsibilities in DLP or data protection programs.
  • BA or BS degree preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with data privacy platforms (e.g., Securiti, BigID, OneTrust, or equivalent).
  • DLP toolset exposure must include Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, Azure Information Protection, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.
  • Recent experience and proficiency with Cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and GCP.
  • Preferred experience in automating DLP processes and reporting/analytics using PowerBI, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications, especially Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent customer service and soft skills.
  • Experience with mentoring, training, and upskilling junior associates.
  • Experience with risk identification techniques and data analysis across large datasets.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work multi-functionally in a team environment and independently.
  • Solid ability to manage time appropriately and optimally prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively understand and apply instructions, while also using acquired knowledge to exceed expectations when necessary.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$5,444.76 - $9,537.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
