What We Are Looking For:
As a Cloud Engineer at Bandwidth, you’ll play a critical role in managing our cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications, which power the organization. Your work will directly contribute to scalable, secure, and efficient operations, enhancing productivity and empowering teams across Bandwidth. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams to ensure the infrastructure and applications meet business goals while maintaining high performance, security, and cost-efficiency standards.
Not sure if you’re 100% qualified? We encourage you to apply and start a conversation! But you should be comfortable writing code, digging around in a terminal, and bouncing complex technical ideas off teammates.
What You'll Do:
- Support engineering and operations teams with defining overall solution architecture for applications hosted in cloud-native environments (hybrid, on-prem and cloud)
- Drive innovation by using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to automate service and application deployments across on-prem and cloud infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain serverless applications and AWS Lambda functions, to support automation and integration needs.
- Optimize Cloud networking solutions, ensuring high performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues, ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance.
- Promote cloud best practices, mentor team members, and evangelize industry standards throughout the company.
What You Need:
- Extensive experience building and managing multi-account AWS environments, with a strong understanding of cloud architecture.
- Expertise in AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, and a solid foundation in security protocols.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, with an emphasis on hybrid cloud technologies such as Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and Site-to-Site VPN.
- Proven proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and scripting languages like Python and Bash.
- Proficiency in managing and optimizing SaaS applications like Okta, GitHub, and Atlassian products (e.g., Jira and Confluence).
- A customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance technical priorities with business needs.
- A team-oriented approach, eager to collaborate, share knowledge, and learn from others.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Bonus Points:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes or Docker.
- Background in startup environments or projects with ambiguous or rapidly evolving requirements.
The Whole Person Promise:
At Bandwidth, we’re pretty proud of our corporate culture, which is rooted in our “Whole Person Promise.” We promise all employees that they can have meaningful work AND a full life, and we provide a work environment geared toward enriching your body, mind, and spirit. How do we do that? Well…
- 100% company-paid Medical, Vision, & Dental coverage for you and your family with low deductibles and low out-of-pocket expenses.
- All new hires receive four weeks of PTO.
- PTO Embargo. When you take time off (of any kind!) you’re embargoed from working. Bandmates and managers are not allowed to interrupt your PTO – not even with email.
- Additional PTO can be earned throughout the year through volunteer hours and Bandwidth challenges.
- “Mahalo moments” program grants additional time off for life’s most important moments like graduations, buying a first home, getting married, wedding anniversaries (every five years), and the birth of a grandchild.
- 90-Minute Workout Lunches and unlimited meetings with our very own nutritionist.
Are you excited about the position and its responsibilities, but not sure if you’re 100% qualified? Do you feel you can work to help us crush the mission? If you answered ‘yes’ to both of these questions, we encourage you to apply! You won’t want to miss the opportunity to be a part of the BAND.
