Arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) are treated by cardiac electrophysiologists—cardiologists with specialized training in diagnosing and managing these conditions. At Cleveland Clinic in Florida, you’ll receive expert care from a nationally recognized team of electrophysiology specialists. We use advanced technology to accurately diagnose arrhythmias and perform procedures such as catheter ablation. By joining the Indian River team as Clinical Assistant, you will assist your fellow LPNs, RNs and other healthcare staff in providing exceptional patient support and attention. This position is a great introduction to the Cleveland Clinic enterprise before exploring further our numerous educational or professional development opportunities.  

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM or 8:30AM – 5:00PM. No weekends or holidays. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients as appropriate. 

  • Provide accurate medication administration and nursing documentation such as medical records, authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.  

  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation. 

  • Recognize changes in patient status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians. 

  • Recognize and follow through with nursing intervention. 

  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times. 

  • Perform patient teaching as needed under the supervision of RN/Physician. 

  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO. 

  • Follow Code Blue protocol as per clinic policy. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program 

  • Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Knowledge of Infection Control Practices 

  • Computer literacy 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • One year of clinical experience 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing walking and occasional lifting.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
