The Chief Engineer – Systems is a senior technical leader, leading a team of engineers responsible for guiding engineering strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring successful execution across multiple disciplines in either the customer support, or cost management engineering team.  Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives.  This role combines people leadership, product strategy, and hands-on technical expertise to deliver advanced vehicle technologies that meet customer needs and business goals.  The customer support engineering role focuses on resolving internal and external customer needs through technical problem-solving skills while effectively communicating and collaborating with cross functional departments.  A key focus of the cost management role is driving cost reduction initiatives through design optimization, process improvements, and VAVE practices, ensuring competitive and sustainable solutions.

As a Chief Engineer, you will establish system architectures, conduct trade studies, flow down requirements, and oversee verification and validation activities. You will also play a critical role in developing engineering talent, ensuring cross-functional collaboration, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Your Impact

  • Lead and develop a large, multidisciplinary engineering team, which consists of onsite and offshore team members, inspiring innovation and accountability.
  • Align product and business strategy with organizational goals, ensuring customer satisfaction and program success.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across engineering disciplines while managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L.
  • Develop engineering goals and strategic plans for their platform team or product line.
  • Champion VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) efforts to optimize designs, reduce costs, and increase product value.
  • Mentor and coach leaders on workforce planning, resource allocation, succession, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with multiple disciplines by resolve pressing issues to ensure business continuity
  • Review and approve system and subsystem requirement documents to ensure user needs are properly decomposed and intent of the user needs is met.
  • Define system architecture, establish requirements, and oversee verification/validation to ensure robust, reliable, and safe designs.
  • Partner with functional and business leaders to deliver strategic initiatives and advance next-generation vehicle technologies.
  • Represent engineering decisions with confidence to senior leadership, customers, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while championing reliability, manufacturability, and functional safety.
  • Influence the future of mobility by advancing new technologies and integrating them into total systems solutions.
  • Manage engineering resource capacity demands and associated budget as required to align to business goals for each fiscal year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with ten (10) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, software or comparable.
  • Proficient with Creo/Windchill CAD software or similar.  Proficient with Microsoft Project, SmartSheet, Thinkcell, Excel, or other project management or CAD tools
  • Experience with larger OEM process and procedures.

Pay Range:

$102,800.00 - $176,800.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
