The Analytical Sciences (AnSci) Scientific Unit Head (Chemistry Unit) position exists to ensure optimum management of the R&D process necessary to support New Vaccine (NV) and process improvement projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of chromatography and electrophoresis-based testing strategy and the development/qualification/validation of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE) and plate-based assays such as Total Protein (BCA) in support of the characterization, in-process control, release, stability and control of NV and commercial products.

  •  Serves as a resource and mentor that leads scientific aspects within the Unit, including identifying/evaluating/developing new testing technologies through innovative partnerships and collaborations within and outside the company.

  • Contributes to relevant analytical sections of regulatory documents supporting progression of NV portfolio throughout clinical trial phases.

  •  Provides managerial leadership including the hiring of staff, budget preparation and the allocation of resources to projects within the MS unit of AnSci.

  •  Develops competencies within the team, both scientific and behavioral, to best serve execution of the projects.

  •  Contributed to the delivery high quality results, on-time, within budget and in accordance with the project prioritization.

About You

  • Earned Master's degree or Ph.D. in relevant fields including Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Vaccinology or other similar field.

  • Experience of at least 5 years (PhD) or 7 years (Master's degree) in the area of analytical test development and/or release testing of clinical trial biologics (preferably vaccines).

  • Strong leadership presence and ability to interact cross functionally and also externally with regulatory authorities and key consultants / collaborators.

  • Strong scientific and strategy analysis background with broad perspective of analytical and technical knowledge.

  • Strong leader and advocate for GMP and GLP compliance.

  • Vaccine development experience is highly preferred.

  • Previous leadership and/or people management experience is preferred.

  • Experience working within a GxP environment is required.

The salary range for this position is:

$93,900.00 - $135,633.33

All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs. Additional benefits information can be found through the LINK.
