Check Services Systems Trainee

Train in the design and modification of processes and controls for all Check Services processing systems and applications: VSoft Branch Item Capture, VSoft BOS2 (including ATM Deposit Automation and Mobile Check Deposit) VSoft BOS1(Back-Office processing, Exception processing), Special Handling Notices, NSFF, ODFF, NSFA, Another Chance and others.

The trainee will:

Acquire basic knowledge of file formats and industry requirements, sort patterns, database specifications, workflow designs, and branch and operations user functionality.

Learn to test and document any required operating system updates and database or security patches to ensure applications’ compatibility.

Build on basic working knowledge of all systems that interact with Check Services applications, e.g., Active Directory, IDM (Image), OnBase, , Oracle, Windows, ATM, DDA, Time, Overdraft, EngageOne, etc.

Acquire technical knowledge of VSoft applications and other dependent systems and functions, e.g., Oracle, Windows, AFT, FTP, etc.

Acquire working knowledge of the rules and regulations pertinent to all application processes.

System-integrated testing of all application and hardware updates from vendors and in-house design team.

Learn about the creation and documentation of all application processes.

Execute test scripts successfully for every work flow use case.

Report functional deficiency during testing and work with senior staff and support to resolve.

Test applications and all corresponding functionality in lower-level VSoft environments and migrate changes through each before delivery to production

Test user-requested enhancements for Branch Item Capture, BOS2 and BOS1 processing as well as updates required by vendor or for organizational compliance standards.

Attend project meetings within department as well as with other user groups and technical project staff.

Train in other Check Services departments to obtain working knowledge of business user functionality and needs.

Assist when needed in any area of Check Services departmental operations with processing or problem resolution.

Assist with maintaining department procedural guides.

Must maintain cohesive working relationships with other user and technical support groups.

Must maintain professionalism at all times.

Perform all other duties assigned by management team.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Must have five consecutive years of full-time SECU service and CCUE or Associates of Arts degree via the NC College Transfer Program (NC CTP).

Experience:

Must have at least one year of check application experience in back-office check processing environment

Prefer at least one year of experience with VSoft testing in lower-level environments and have maintained active involvement in all system testing and implementation.

Prefer at least one year of experience in deposit account applications testing.

Must have background in branch or contact center operations or other back-office operations

Must be proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel.

Prefer proficiency in writing, interpreting, testing and implementing Excel VBA.

Must have high-level understanding of “background” services used by applications in order to resolve branch and back-office issues.

Must be familiar with the rules and regulations pertinent to all application processes (Reg CC , UCC, Check 21, NC GS, etc.)

Must be highly motivated to learn new systems, products, and skill.

Must be a self-starter and require little supervision.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and good presentation abilities.

Must be dedicated to the SECU philosophy and work ethic.

Must be flexible in job assignments and duties as well as strong multi-tasking abilities.

Must be able to adapt well to a dynamic work environment.

Must be able to work well under pressure in critical situations with tight deadlines (production issues.)

Must be able to be cordial and to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers, management and vendors.

Must be well organized, detailed oriented, and be able to prioritize tasks to ensure organizational goals are met.

Must be willing to travel.

Must be willing to work fluctuating or additional hours including overnight or weekends as needed for testing, implementation or troubleshooting system issues.

Must be able to speak English fluently.

JOB ENVIRONMENT:

Office setting with physical proximity to other employees with normal background noise and/or work remote as deemed necessary.

Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.

Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.

Must be able to comprehend phone calls.

Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
