Through working with our partner suppliers, our role is to work within the Asda brand technical, ESG & RS frameworks, using data and insight to manage food safety, quality and legality for our customers and protecting our brand. We are part of the BUD that delivers the mission of being Britains best grocery superstore satisfying the weekly shopping needs of ordinary working people and their families who demand value. We do this through having a focus on quality and value without comprising on food safety in our respective BUDs and through the wider technical team.
•Support & lead our partner suppliers to deliver safe and legal and consistent quality products for our customers everyday, ensuring this aligns to our ongoing trade plan and own brand innovation pipeline.
•Execution of Audit framework, and supporting its evolution based on risk reviews.
•Proactively champion Asda’s technical standards within the business and with suppliers to ensure all of our products meet these high standards
•Take the lead on customer dissatisfaction, leveraging the power of the BUD and great supplier relationships to bring about change
•Utilize Horizon scanning and other business information to predict future risks and set in place plans to mitigate these risks through refinement of the technical framework.
•Be a positive presence in the supply base, driving standards and managing issues in a timely manner.
•Support the quality team where required, showing an aligned Asda who focus on customer dissatisfaction.
•Maintain and manage all key due diligence metrics for category area – specifications, audits, withdrawals and recalls, Complaints and Authenticate.
•Management of incidents in line with the incident management protocols.
•Play an active and significant part in the Cost to serve programme to reduce costs and drive value
•Deliver the on call process in line with rota needs
•Develop capability of self and our wider teams direct reports through on the job coaching, and formal training.
•Execute well accountable areas of the business plan.
Essential skills and experience
•Leadership and conviction in communication.
•Degree or equivalent in relevant product or scientific area.
•Understanding of technical and manufacturing experience including BRC and HACCP.
•Computer literate and agile in new system adoption.
•Commercial & customer awareness
•Ability to prioritise and flex to business needs
•Proven track record of result delivery & decision making
•People management (role dependent)

Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.
