The Opportunity
We are seeking a Buyer II to work at our St. Paul, MN location in our Vascular division.
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Create and process purchase orders, both direct and indirect, in accordance with documented procurement processes to include standard, subcontract, stock transfer, down-payment, and discount orders.
- Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventories in support of project demands by working with cross-functional teams to include engineering, sourcing, planning, category, and shipping-receiving.
- Process purchase requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule, reviewing quotes and acknowledgements for accuracy.
- Facilitate vendor corrective action by partnering with the SQE team for quality improvement.
- Responsible for supporting and maintaining mutually beneficial long-term partnership with suppliers, enhancing good business relationships with Abbott.
- Manage orders and RMAs through completion and execute invoice resolution through order closure.
- Maintain material master data in ERP system (experience with Epicor or SAP MD preferred)
Experience You’ll Bring
- Good working knowledge of Procurement concepts, procedures, and practices
- General knowledge of ERP systems (experience with Epicor or SAP MD preferred)
- Ability to work on problems of moderate scope, where analysis of situations or data requires review
- Will perform this job in a quality system environment
- Working knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures, and practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing/commodity management.
- Experience negotiating terms and purchasing agreements.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- MRP experience, a plus.

The base pay for this position is 
$60,000.00 – $120,000.00
