Summary of Position Purpose:

  • Working closely with colleagues across the business to ensure the continuity of supply of parts/materials to support internal manufacturing and externally for the support of customer spares
  • ‘Cradle to Grave’ supplier responsibility via commodity-based procurement

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule incoming materials according to the forecasted demand
  • Generate and issue purchase orders on nominated suppliers within your commodity
  • Provide suppliers with specification for material and services ordered
  • Inform suppliers of any non-conformances for goods received, as advised by QC/Technical and where necessary negotiating costs
  • Expedite orders and reporting back to the business delays that may impact production
  • Collating and managing samples
  • Updating information on ERP/MRP
  • Liaising with the relevant departments throughout the day to address and resolve any supply issues
  • Querying price discrepancies with the supplier and report findings to the respective department for action, obtaining credit notes as necessary
  • Manage cost saving projects as provided by the Strategic Sourcing team
  • Constant maintenance of the Demand Planning system
  • Supporting all internal customers
  • Organise buffer stock arrangements with strategic suppliers
  • Review and hedge raw materials as necessary
  • Manage continuous improvement for your given commodity base
  • Achieving and maintaining business KPI’s

Person Specification:

Knowledge

Essential

  • Microsoft Word & Excel in an office environment
  • ERP/MRP

Desirable

  • Supplier management
  • MRP/ERP - Oracle
  • Willing to or already working towards a qualification (e.g., CIPS) or qualified

Experience

Essential

  • Dealing with suppliers
  • Office administration
  • Developing systems and procedures
  • Working within a procurement department in manufacturing
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and checking formulas
