Financial Institutions (FI) Sector Coverage is looking for an experienced ambitious and creative professional to run the FI Business Management team, reporting to the hierarchically to the Head of FI NL and functionally to the Global Head of FI.
Your role
As Lead Business Manager for Financial Institutions, you play a key role in shaping strategic decisions at a senior level within the sector. You support the Head of FI in developing and implementing strategy, with a strong focus on translating ideas into practical actions and communicating them effectively to colleagues across your sector coverage. You also act as a connector between different business units and across the broader network, helping to ensure smooth operations and clear communication.
In this role you will work directly with the Head of Financial Institutions, the FI management team (MT) and key stakeholders such as all the business lines, regions, Finance, HR, Risk, NFR and communications. The activities will also depend on the priorities of the department and will be determined together with the Head of FI.
In addition you will be leading 2 sub teams:
- The FI Business Management team that consists of 4 FTE (2 Jr Business Managers and 2 PAs). This team (incl. you) supports the Global Head and the FI MT in implementing its strategy at both tactical, operational and strategic level
- The T&R FI EMEA team (5fte), which is responsible for the KYC client outreach and supporting the relationship managers with the end to end CDD process of our FI Clients
You are responsible for the daily management, craftsmanship, coaching and progress of these teams. Your responsibilities
- Support and advise the Head of FI and the FI MT to facilitate effective decision making
- Take a leading role in the implementation of strategic priorities and projects for the sector
- Prepare communications and presentations for various key stakeholders (such as the Head of FI monthly sector newsletter, senior management and staff communications) including business cases, proposals and town halls
- Coordinate measures, initiatives and requests coming from the WBMT for the FI sector and assist the Head of FI in aligning the functional perspective with the geographic perspective
- Take the lead on HR matters within FI including annual staff reviews, the compensation process, FTE management and OHI related initiatives
- Own larger and more complex projects – both improvement and remediation activities
- Monitor the progress of key financial and non-financial performance metrics working closely with Finance counterparts
- Develop and maintain relationships in and outside FI MT to create opportunities and ensure alignment
- Flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to changes in business direction that may impact initiatives in progress with minimal noise
- Ad hoc tasks in support of other MT-members
- Responsible for the daily management, craftsmanship and coaching of the team and other related HR matters
- Daily operational management of the FI EMEA T&R team
About you
- You have a minimum of 3-4 years of working experience in Wholesale Banking and/or similar international role
- Clients and stakeholders are always the starting point of your thinking
- Experience in managing a (small) team
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with high ethical standards
- You have strong communication and networking skills: you are able to build bridges, bring people together and drive collaboration, alignment and knowledge sharing in and outside of the FI Sector
- You have a good understanding of ING’s strategy and WB’s business lines and functions, products and processes
- You have strong analytical skills and get energy from translating strategy into policy and executable plans, always looking for ways to improve the status quo
- You take initiative, pro-actively picking up tasks to relieve the workload of the Head of FI
- You have a strong work ethic, are able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- You are fluent in English, both written as well as spoken
