Reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, this Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will work with South Shore Health’s approved suite of analytics tools, including, but not limited to, Epic Cogito (Business Intelligence, Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer), Workday, Symplr, and Qlik. Data delivery includes reports, data extracts, visualizations, KPIs, etc.

This resource will work closely with the organization’s business, clinical and administrative staff to ensure that business intelligence solutions deliver actionable insights to SSHS staff. They will a) work assignments and resolve problems of a routine nature, b) perform updates or edits to existing solutions, and c) develop new extracts, reports, and visualizations.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will assist those across the organization who need a better understanding of the underlying data. They may participate in data validation and help find specific data points populated by end-user workflows. This resource may be called upon to consult on how and why data comes into SSH’s data sources.

 

Compensation Pay Range:

$87,000.00 - $127,000.00

 

  • This position will advise and support peers, colleagues, and the user community at South Short Health, through expertise with business intelligence tools, concepts, processes and techniques.
  • Serves as technical advisor towards, and partner with, both internal and external customers to drive actionable insights in support of operational, strategic and tactical metrics.
  • Collaborate with leadership to continuously develop the data architecture strategy, implementation plan and customer-delivered toolset.
  • Possess a deep appreciation for customer service and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, certifications and skills competency.
  • Actively participate and support continuous improvements of services through processes to detect and resolve data anomalies in a proactive/timely manner.
  • Champion the implementation of emerging technologies, programs and techniques to better analyze, distribute and integrate information.
  • Provide support from data model, quality, and integrity, validity analysis through resolution to correct deficiencies within analytic, reporting and visualization applications.
  • Continually further analytics knowledge and certifications through various channels to remain current on the cutting edge of our vendors’ technology.

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education - Preferred

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Business Administration, Health Information Management, Analytics, Information Technology and/or Business Intelligence. BS strongly preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:

    • 1- 7 years of experience working with data extraction methodologies and reporting tools in a variety of healthcare information systems such as Workday, Symplr API workforce HCM, or Epic Cogito. Recent New Grads will be considered, based on undergraduate degree.
    • 1-7 years of experience programming SQL language including knowledge of principles of database design, data acquisition and data access. Experience working with stored procedure writing, query optimization, and indexes required.

Minimum Certifications

    • Possess one or more of the following current certifications, or obtain certification within one year of start date:
    • Workday Reporting and Analytics Pro Certification (Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), “Supply Chain Management” (SCM) and Financial Management modules)
    • Epic Cogito Certification (Cogito, Clarity, Cogito SQL Badge, Radar Workbench, Radar SQL Metrics Badge, SlicerDicer Custom Build Badge, Cogito Systems Administration, Cogito Tools Administration, Implementing Registries-based Cognitive Computing Models Badge, Caboodle Data Model, Access Data Model, Revenue Cycle Data Model).

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated proficiency working with data structures, data analysis/interpretation and transforming raw data into finished business intelligence products.
    • Possesses knowledge of multiple data analytic and reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, T-SQL, Cubes, SAP Web Intelligence.
    • Experience working with Data Visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, or PowerBI. Ability to develop and test SSIS packages preferred.
    • Familiarity with various types and sources of health care information including financial and patient-level data files. Strong working knowledge of hospital operations and healthcare industry drivers.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite required. Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office tools including advanced analytical capabilities of Excel, Power Query, etc.
