Job Title
Business Development Manager
About your role:
Clover is the SMB payments and point-of-sale platform powering small businesses across Canada; on this growth-focused sales team you will own a defined territory and be accountable for aggressively expanding Clover’s footprint by identifying, pursuing, and closing new merchant accounts. You’ll run the full sales cycle—prospecting, discovery, tailored demos, negotiation, and post-sale handoff—while building durable relationships with owner-operators, franchise groups, and channel partners, and coordinating with marketing, product, and implementation teams to ensure seamless onboarding and sustained adoption. This high-impact, entrepreneurial hunter role requires strategic territory planning, frequent in-market engagement, deep knowledge of POS and payments technology, and the ability to convert merchant needs into measurable revenue and product feedback that helps shape Clover’s roadmap.
What you’ll do:
- Prospect, identify, and generate new business opportunities through targeted cold outreach, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Lead the full sales cycle from discovery and product demo to negotiation, close, and post-sale handoff to implementation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owner/operators, franchise groups, and industry partners across restaurant and hospitality verticals.
- Deliver tailored product presentations and live demonstrations of Clover POS and associated software/features.
- Coordinate with marketing, product, and implementation teams to ensure a seamless customer onboarding and post-sale experience.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and performance records in CRM; prepare forecasting and territory reports.
- Manage in-market activities, including face-to-face prospect meetings, merchant site visits, and local events.
- Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 1+ years of experience using CRM platforms for full-cycle sales (Salesforce CRM, HubSpot).
- 1+ years of experience with prospecting and sales engagement tools (LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach.io, SalesLoft).
- 3+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Existing network or established relationships with restaurant, hospitality, and franchise operators in the assigned territory.
- Experience managing a high-travel sales territory with vehicle ownership and a valid Canadian driver’s license.
- Familiarity with interchange pricing, merchant processing fee models, and merchant onboarding workflows.
- Experience integrating POS solutions with third-party apps (ordering, loyalty, inventory) and working with implementation partners.
- Track record of quota attainment in SMB payments, merchant services, or POS sales roles.
How you’ll work:
- This role requires the use of a computer and audio equipment.
- This role requires frequent moving and/or carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Travel:
- Approximately 50% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected.
Benefits at Fiserv:
- Fuel Your Life program to support physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being
- Paid holidays and generous time away policies
- No-cost mental health support through Employee Assistance Programs

- Tuition assistance and reimbursement program
- Paid parental, caregiver, and military leave
