The Manulife Bank Business Development Manager, Broker (BDM), serves as a senior relationship manager within a defined territory, responsible for driving mortgage sales by promoting the Bank’s full range of products and partnering with top-tier mortgage brokers. role will focus on building relationships, educating and training mortgage brokers on our unique mortgage product offering, and will look for look for opportunities to actively further promote other Bank offerings in the broker space.
Remote-based role with regular travel required within the assigned territory.
Position Responsibilities:
Individual Accountabilities:
Develop mortgage broker connections in designated location with strategic interactions according to business plan, acting as Bank mortgage resource. (40%)
Optimize delivery of value-added products, service and advice while enhancing sales efforts through consultation and demonstrating the merits of integrated Bank products and services with a mortgage brokers business. Support mortgage brokers by working directly with centers of influence, accountants, real estate agents and participating in client seminars. (30%)
Perform front line business risk management function through awareness, support and implementation of compliance and company policies with mortgage brokers, including supervision of sales related activities. Responsible for escalation of market conduct or compliance related concerns to the National Partnership Leader and Bank Compliance. (15%)
Collaborate with other Managers at Manulife Bank to improve operational efficiencies and identify new product opportunities. (10%)
Partner with other Manulife Financial and Manulife Bank representatives to build mortgage broker interests in Manulife Bank debt management, loan and deposit solutions. (5%)
Key Shared Accountabilities:
Coordinating Bank territory business development activities with other Manulife Bank representatives,
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in banking or credit
5+ years in the mortgage broker environment
Strong sales, negotiation, and customer service skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities (written, verbal, one-on-one, group)
Highly organized, self-disciplined, and able to manage time and territory effectively
Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Manulife Bank products, including Manulife One
Familiarity with residential and commercial lending policies and practices
Understanding of regulatory/legal issues in the mortgage space
Experience with business planning and mentoring team members
Industry designation (e.g., AMP) or working toward one
Strong relationship-building skills, including conflict management and cross-functional collaboration
