Business Analyst - Commercial Rotation Program

The Opportunity
 

TC Energy’s Commercial Rotation Program is a three-year development experience designed for early-career professionals passionate about the energy industry. This program offers hands-on exposure across multiple commercial functions within our U.S. Natural Gas business, including Business Development, Commercial Operations, Marketing, and Rates & Regulatory. 

 

Participants in the Commercial Rotation Program will complete up to three rotational assignments, each lasting approximately 12 months. Throughout the program, participants will gain cross-functional experience across key commercial areas, benefit from mentorship by subject matter experts, and engage in professional development activities such as site visits and industry seminars. The program also fosters a strong internal network across departments and leadership levels, while helping participants develop strategic insight into how commercial decisions influence energy infrastructure and policy. 

Relocation Eligibility: This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program 

What you’ll do
 

As a Commercial Business Analyst, you’ll contribute to high-impact projects across different rotations: 

 

Business Development 

  • Identify and execute new natural gas infrastructure projects to drive sustainable growth. 

  • Conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decisions. 

  • Recommend approaches to capitalize on emerging opportunities. 


Commercial Operations 

  • Support pipeline system planning to ensure capacity meets customer demand. 

  • Develop and execute commercial transactions for transportation and storage services. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance customer experience. 


Marketing 

  • Maintain and grow TC Energy’s customer base and revenue streams. 

  • Design creative solutions to address customer needs. 

  • Identify new market opportunities to expand our footprint. 


Rates & Regulatory 

  • Ensure compliance with FERC regulations governing pipeline and storage operations. 

  • Prepare and submit rate cases, tariff filings, and regulatory applications. 

  • Monitor evolving policies and develop proactive regulatory strategies. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-3 years’ experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in energy, business, economics, finance, marketing, engineering or related field. 

  • Passion for the natural gas industry and solving complex energy challenges. 

  • Strong communication skills and ability to think creatively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internships or co-op programs in the energy sector. 

  • Exposure to natural gas commercial activities, market fundamentals, or regulatory affairs. 

  • Coursework or research in energy economics, finance, markets, or policy.
