Position Overview:

Boston Medical Center – South seeks a skilled and compassionate Breast Surgeon to join our growing multidisciplinary breast health program. The ideal candidate will be board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery with fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology or equivalent clinical experience. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a supportive, academic-community hybrid environment that emphasizes collaboration, education, and health equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with benign and malignant breast disease, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary breast conferences and tumor boards with radiology, pathology, oncology, and plastic surgery colleagues.
  • Collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Perform minimally invasive and oncoplastic breast surgery techniques consistent with current best practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement, outcomes tracking, and clinical research initiatives within the Breast Health Program.
  • Educate and mentor residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
  • Work closely with nurse navigators, genetic counselors, and social workers to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Engage in community outreach and education programs focused on breast cancer awareness and screening.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Adhere to hospital policies, compliance, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • MD or DO degree (or equivalent).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency.
  • Fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology or equivalent experience.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
  • Eligible for or holding an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, compassionate, and equitable patient care.

Preferred:

  • Experience in oncoplastic or minimally invasive breast surgery.
  • Experience in academic or teaching environments.
  • Interest or experience in clinical research and outcomes improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary setting.

The Breast Health Program integrates advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary treatment, and patient navigation to ensure holistic, accessible care for all patients.

Compensation range between $219,000 - $298,825

The base salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to clinical FTE, qualifications, experience, education, board certifications, specialty, training, and scope of practice. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Any eligible incentive compensation is not included in the above compensation range and will be discussed during the interview process.
