As a Breast Feeding Peer Helper, you will provide basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers who participate in WIC. You will educate patients on how to properly breastfeed as well as the benefits of doing so. Not only will you see patients in person, but you will also work with mothers over the phone. This is a great opportunity for a mother who is passionate about breastfeeding and wants to share their passion with other mothers and mothers-to-be.  

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide pregnant and postpartum WIC participants with breastfeeding support. 

  • Provide appropriate breastfeeding referrals for issues beyond their scope of practice. 

  • Complete six hours of continuing education per year. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license 

  • Has breastfed an infant exclusively or substantially for at least six months 

  • Former or current WIC participant OR eligible for WIC services

  • Sedentary work: Prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10lbs force occasionally.
