Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for an outgoing barista to prepare both cold and hot beverages at our Toronto office. This role is more than just Barista, we are looking for someone who can cover a reception, help hostesses and assist with office services duties with excellent customer service. This role requires the candidate to be in office from 8:00am – 5:00pm. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and understand the importance of exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

Barista

  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea and specialty drinks in a professional manner;
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of individual common kitchens;
  • Greet, service and take guest’s orders for beverages in a friendly, professional, and timely manner to ensure total guest satisfaction;
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning;
  • Demonstrate the use of retail equipment, such as espresso machines;
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils and equipment;
  • Cleaning service and seating areas;
  • Servicing clients and taking orders;
  • Ordering, receiving and distributing stock supplies;
  • Troubleshooting any problems with equipment and scheduling repairs when needed;

Hostess/Administration

  • Coordinate catering orders with customer and catering companies;
  • Set-up, serve, and clean-up boardrooms for catered meetings as needed;
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all meeting and board rooms on all floors;
  • Coordinating the booking and setting up of meeting rooms;
  • Maintaining safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
  • Validate and code invoices for stock and supplies;
  • Track and review ordering and expenses with Office Services Supervisor;
  • Provide daily back-up to Reception to cover scheduled breaks;
  • Handle incoming calls on a high-volume multi-line switchboard;
  • Keeping detailed and accurate records of visitor requests and of calls received;
  • Respond effectively to all inquiries from clients, couriers and employees in a friendly and professional manner;
  • Assisting with customer complaints or issues by passing them on to the appropriate parties;
  • Directing visitors by maintaining employee and department directories;
  • Creating a professional and welcoming environment with outstanding customer service skills;
  • Assist other members of the Office Services team as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Barista or similar role required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills complemented by exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel);
  • Detail oriented, professional, polished, corporate presentation;
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative;
  • Flexible and willing to assist with other team members;
  • Disposing of expired ingredients;
  • Food safety and preparation skills, and knowledge of how viruses and bacteria can spread;
  • The ability to create new coffee drinks;
  • Familiarity with local food safety regulations.
