Backend Software Engineer independently delivers complex backend features and services while maintaining high standards of quality and performance. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, code reviews, and proactive contributions to improving team practices. The role optimizes performance, participates in architectural discussions within their team, and drives improvements in testing, reliability, and scalability. They balance hands-on development with shaping processes that raise the overall quality of the team’s work.
What you'll actually do
- Consistently deliver core product features that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write clean, secure, and efficient code while performing thorough testing and debugging.
- Ensure seamless integration with other components and optimize for scalability while addressing technical debt.
- Write well-documented code and create automation tests with strong coverage.
- Improve testing practices across the team.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain documentation that meets company standards and continuously improve code quality.
- Tackle complex architectural and performance problems.
- Drive improvements to service latency, fault tolerance, and resilience in high-load environments.
- Lead architecture discussions and influence technical decisions across the department.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
- Promote and apply clean code principles and best engineering practices.
- Automate repetitive tasks and support performance optimizations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for beneficial adoption.
- Participate in technical interviews and share knowledge with peers.
- Contribute to improving team processes and standards.
- Suggest and drive technical improvements.
- Support onboarding and ongoing growth of team members.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of backend development experience; preferred commercial experience with Python, Go, C++, C#, etc.
- Experience conducting code reviews.
- Strong background in high-load, concurrent, and multithreaded systems with microservice development experience.
- Preferred experience in financial/market-based or distributed systems.
- Proven ability to build scalable, reliable services (APIs, storage, testing, CI/CD).
- Solid understanding of version control, branching, releases, and review processes.
- Strong ORM/DBMS expertise and database architecture knowledge.
- Strong fundamentals in system design and integration patterns.
- Practical experience with DevOps practices (OS, monitoring, networking, virtualization, containers).
- Proficient in unit, integration, and load testing; skilled in debugging, profiling, and optimization.
- Soft skills: English B2+ proficiency; excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong time management and multitasking skills; proactive continuous learner; able to work independently in fast-paced environments; high attention to detail and quality; strong communication and ownership mindset; effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (Tech Leads, UI/UX, SEs, QA, Product, BSA).
