The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Environmental Control Systems (ECS) team is seeking a B-52 Environmental Control System Manager (Level K), first line manager to lead the pneumatic system development for the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP) in Everett, WA.

Position Overview:

This role is a technical leadership and program management position responsible for driving system definition, hardware qualification, propulsion integration milestones (including Propulsion CDR, engine testing, and flight testing), nacelle anti-ice performance evaluation and testing, and system dynamic modeling and performance evaluation. The manager will lead a multidiscipline team of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers and integrate with suppliers to deliver safe and certifiable engine pneumatic system that meet program schedule, cost, and performance targets.

The ideal candidate will be a reliable and determined professional who possesses the ability to work well with diverse groups and effectively collaborate across organizational boundaries. The candidate will be a problem solver and a leader who can effectively characterize, prioritize, and implement technical solutions in fast paced development environment. The candidate will lead and support a mechanical systems team with focus on safety, certification, design, and systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ECS SOW for the B-52 CERP with primary accountability for pneumatic system development, performance verification, and engine/airplane integration.

  • Provide technical leadership and program management through hardware qualification, engine testing, and flight/ground testing.

  • Develops and executes plans to meet the program schedules with a strong focus on high-quality engineering. 

  • Execute hardware qualification and test plans for pneumatic components and assemblies (e.g., bleed system interfaces, valves, ducts, pressure control, and sensors).

  • Plan, lead, and evaluate nacelle anti-ice performance testing and analysis, including ground test setups, instrumentation requirements, data collection, and test reports.

  • Oversee system dynamic modeling and performance analysis, ensuring models accurately represent pneumatic transient behavior, control logic, and interactions with propulsion and environmental systems.

  • Manage trade studies, SDRL and CDRL deliverables, and system safety assessments for pneumatic systems and anti-ice functions.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams: propulsion, nacelle, systems engineering, flight test, structures, certification, suppliers, and government stakeholders.

  • Represent the ECS organization in program reviews, supplier meetings, and customer discussions; prepare and deliver technical briefings and decision materials.

  • Mentor and develop team members; build and maintain an effective, high-performance organization.

  • Travel approx. 10% of your time

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in environmental control systems, pneumatic systems, propulsion integration, or related aerospace disciplines.

  • 3+ years of experience with hardware qualification and test planning/execution for hardware components.

  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams and leading complex aerospace system development programs

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with military commercial derivative programs.

  • Background in system dynamic modeling and transient performance analysis (e.g., modeling pneumatic networks, pressure/flow transients, control systems). Familiarity with modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, TPS, FlowMaster, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Experience with supplier management and test facility development/coordination.

  • Familiarity with certification requirements for military programs and related test standards.

  • Knowledge of bleed air systems, pneumatic valves, pressurization, and air conditioning components.

  • Proven track record of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering against schedule, cost, and performance goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

Summary Pay Range:

$151,300 - $204,700
