The Role

The Divisional Pricing team provides support, challenge and insights to the entire span of pricing teams across lines of business and global regions. In parallel, we provide assurance to the most senior leadership in PL Re and PL that as a Division we are adhering to the pricing principles, controls and targets under which the business sets out to operate.

We are looking for a driven technically strong actuary to join the Divisional Pricing team as a AVP reporting directly into the VP Pricing.

The role will be on a team exposed to a range of global markets and have the opportunity to work with a variety of experts including actuaries, underwriters, medical personnel, data scientists and senior management as well as with a range of data sources and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the capacity and motivation to influence stakeholders, organise efforts and deliver end-stage output on BAU and initiatives undertaken by Divisional Pricing.

This senior actuarial position will seek to contribute individually together with uplifting the capacity and quality of output from the wider team.

Provide robust oversight to the pricing function through:

  • Driving and advancing the approach the team takes in reviewing front line pricing on large and non-standard quotes
  • Seek to constructively challenge colleagues at all levels, and a willingness to thoughtfully question existing practices

Lead and contribute to PL Re wide projects impacting pricing:

  • Takes accountability for high-quality delivery and supports others in doing the same
  • Drives the continued evolution of analytic techniques in pricing through thought leadership
  • Develop division wide methodologies (leveraging existing methodology where appropriate) and continue to build PL Re pricing reference library
  • Pursue consistency of pricing methodology and process across regions and lines of business by identifying and setting best practice

Support Pricing team activities and further build on PL Re Pricing methodologies and culture:

  • Provide leadership and expertise for the pricing of new risks or novel reinsurance structures
  • Facilitate and encourage cross region and LoB collaboration via divisional projects. Define and ensure consistent PL Re pricing culture

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Actuary
  • Ability to work independently in a small, flexible and dynamic team
  • Demonstrated expertise in actuarial pricing techniques, financial modelling, and risk assessment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing and engaging across all levels.
  • A strong understanding of capital, financial accounting, balance sheets and regulatory frameworks is desirable
