Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to fill a postdoctoral fellowship position in the Department of Cardiometabolic Disease (CMD) at our company's Research Laboratories in South San Francisco, California. This is an exciting opportunity to conduct basic research in an industry setting while learning about drug discovery at a high caliber pharmaceutical company. The successful candidate will work in our state-of-the-art facilities, collaborate with scientists with different research backgrounds, and employ appropriate in vitro and in vivo techniques to investigate the pathophysiology and molecular mechanisms of metabolic disorders. This role offers the chance to contribute to significant scientific publications and presentations at conferences, while gaining valuable experience in contemporary drug discovery.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work productively in a collaborative environment within and outside of the department.

  • Show a high degree of independence in designing, planning, and executing experiments in the laboratory.

  • Analyze experimental results with suitable statistical methods and interpret the results appropriately.

  • Summarize experimental results for presentations at internal and external meetings and for publication in scientific journals.

 

Education Minimum Requirement:   

Candidates must currently hold a PhD or PhD will be completed within 6 months of hire

 

Required Experience and Skills:  

  • Experience in metabolic disease, musculoskeletal disease, fibrosis, or a related field

  • Technical proficiency, scientific rigor, and productivity evidenced by publications in scientific journals

  • Hands-on experience in the following areas: common molecular biology techniques, cell culture and cell-based assays, and animal experiments

  • Proven ability to solve complex scientific challenges by undertaking innovative approaches and applying advanced technologies 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and being able to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment

 

Preferred Experience and Skills: 

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: muscle biology, adipose biology, or related field

  • Knowledge in statistics and using appropriate software for data analysis

  • Experience in working with large omics datasets is a plus

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$75,000.00-$86,000.00
