Associate, Physical Liquids Trading – Commodities

About this role:

The Wells Fargo Commodities Group is seeking a Trading Associate with expertise in North American physical liquids markets.

This role primarily supports the Commodity Linked Finance desk, collaborating with senior structurers, marketers, and traders to deliver a comprehensive suite of commodity risk management and monetization solutions to Wells Fargo clients. The desk specializes in structured financing and monetization products including repo, intermediation, leasing, consignment, supply, and prepay/deferred payment structures across energy, metals, and soft commodities.


In this role, you will:

  • Trade and manage the physical liquids portfolio. This includes trade booking and lifecycle management and hedging of the portfolio’s market risk exposures and physical obligations
  • Manage and set the portfolio’s price curves across its products and locations
  • Partner with the physical liquids structuring team in producing marketing materials and daily/monthly reports
  • Provide pricing and executing transactions directly with clients.
  • Provide daily front office support, including credit exposure calculations, order blotter monitoring, trade processing, and responding to customer service requests
  • Engage in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with opportunities for direct client interaction and rapid professional growth.


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Securities Trading experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of physical liquids trading, origination, and/or marketing experience
  • Experience with trading physical commodities within the financial services industry
  • Proven history of successful trading book management
  • Knowledge and understanding of business development: business vision, strategies, and goals
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced analytical and numerical competency
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment


Job Expectations:

  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. In accordance with FINRA rules, individuals who are subject to statutory disqualification are not eligible to be associated with a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. Successful candidates must also meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents.
