The Catalog Operations Department ensures that TCGplayer maintains its leadership position in the online retail space by providing the most robust product information available for the categories supported by our platform. The team's primary role is to source, ingest, enrich, create, and enhance the TCGplayer online catalog.  We create customer trust and deliver solutions that connect thousands of businesses with customers across the collectible gaming industry, powering sales through physical stores, websites, mobile apps and the TCGplayer Marketplace.

Who You Are

As the Associate Manager, Catalog Data, you'll support the Catalog Data Management team to improve operations and encourage growth.
In addition, you will lead a team of Catalog Specialists and Catalog Data Analysts to ensure daily objectives are achieved and best practices are maintained. You will aid with the development and training of team members, supporting performance reviews, coaching, and helping to lead training sessions on operational strategies and emerging technologies.

You will help manage the sourcing, cleaning, integration, and transformation of metadata from both structured and unstructured data sources, ensuring compliance with guidelines set by Catalog Operations leadership.
Your role will involve analyzing and improving catalog data structures, workflows, and processes to enhance data quality and performance, while adhering to privacy, security, and compliance regulations for metadata and product data.

Collaborate with senior leadership to design and implement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and drive long-term growth. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to help design and implement strategies that improve catalog performance and the user experience, while identifying opportunities to automate processes and use data insights to increase efficiency.

The Impact You Will Make Here

  • Manage Catalog Specialists and Catalog Data Analysts by helping define and organize goals, initiatives, and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives and contributing to operational success. Prepare weekly Catalog Operations meetings to set priorities, coordinate work distribution across product lines, develop projects, and ensure deadlines are met efficiently

  • Support the implementation of data quality standards and best practices, assisting with regular audits and updates to ensure data integrity is maintained

  • Leverage expertise and processes gained in previous roles to improve and shape data solutions across departments; serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in Catalog Operations

  • Assist in managing parallel catalogs and automation tools by supporting data schematic and image projects, ensuring ongoing maintenance, and helping resolve queries to improve catalog performance and accuracy.

  • Support the creation, standardization, implementation, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Catalog Data Management, ensuring alignment with best practices and driving operational efficiency across the organization

  • Deliver proactive, actionable insights, identify challenges, and develop innovative solutions to improve Catalog Operations. Take ownership of understanding and adhering to proper escalation procedures to ensure timely issue resolution

  • Provide advanced support for inquiries from retailers, colleagues, and customers, addressing questions and resolving issues as needed

  • Responsible for managing strictly embargoed information, ensuring it remains confidential and is not disclosed, distributed, or shared under any circumstances. Please be aware that some TCGs and related items may contain images that are sensitive in nature (e.g., graphic, explicit). As an Associate Catalog Data Manager, you may be required to research, input, and review these items as part of your duties

What You Bring to the Team

  • Experience within the collectibles and hobby gaming industry, specifically trading card games and other collectibles

  • Advanced technical skills, leadership, and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Advanced familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the retail and collectibles field

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills, along with a proven track record in successfully organizing Catalog Operations data projects

  • Proven ability to coach and mentor individuals, supporting skill development and career growth

  • Experience working with creative teams and designers in a fast-paced setting

  • 8+ years of experience in catalog data management, product information management (PIM), or related roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity

  • Advanced proficiency working in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Zendesk, Sublime Text, Slack, Photoshop, Confluence, and Jira

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$60,000 - $101,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
