At BMS, the Medical Engagement Excellence (MedEngageX) team is positioned within the Medical Excellence (MedEx) organization. MedEngageX plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare professionals are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for patients. We develop strategies, tools, and guidance to empower our Field Medical (FM) teams and Medical Engagement Leads (MELs)) around the globe to ensure that they are aware, informed, engaged, and equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively and compliantly. Our Associate Directors within MedEngageX serve as strategic partners across the medical matrix organization for their respective therapeutic areas. They act as critical connectors between the Worldwide/US medical vision and the successful execution of medical strategies in the field.

Key Accountabilities

  • Report to the Senior Director, US Medical Engagement Excellence within the MedEngageX team.

  • Inform development of ICVN field medical strategies and narratives, leveraging medical insights, to represent the interests and voice of the market FM teams

  • Partner across the matrix to ensure effective FM communications and engagement

  • Ensure ICVN input is maintained in FM operational/reporting systems, including customer relationship management, content management, and medical insights platforms

  • Optimize medical insight quality, analysis, and communications, including operational support for Worldwide and Markets’ Fast Insight Review (FIRe) teams

  • Coordinate MedEngageX efforts to ensure optimal FM Study Support within and across ICVN including analytics and value demonstration for Tier 1 priority studies

  • Maintain connectivity with market Field Medical personnel and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring feedback that informs and aligns MedEngageX activities with market needs

  • Proactively outreach and partner across the MedEngageX TA teams to identify and escalate opportunities to optimize and standardize deliverables and ways of working resulting in improved quality, efficiency, leveraging of technology and organizational value.

  • May include responsibility for management of team project/operational support (eg graduate, Fellow, intern).

Strategy

  • Participates actively in the assigned Medical Communications Working Groups or those downstream from the Assets Indications Management (AIMS) teams

  • In partnership with MedEngageX Directors, ensures FM interests and insights are effectively represented in global/US Field Medical plans that support the overall medical strategies.

  • Partner with MedEngageX Directors to ensure globally consistent and locally relevant pull through of medical strategies

  • Accountability to maintain alignment and implementation of Medical Communication Topics (MCTs) for stakeholder interaction documentation in InterAct and Insight Categories for insight documentation in MEDsights

  • Partner with MedEngageX Directors for priority congresses, ensuring FM interests and activities are represented and co-ordinated

  • May be called upon to represent MedEngageX within assigned matrix team/project

Execution

  • Partner with MedEngageX Directors to pull through strategic initiatives impacting Field Medical, Optimize capabilities to improve speed and simplicity by leveraging technology and AI.

  • Facilitates FM related congress support inclusive of priority session coverage and summaries, medical booth staffing/briefing, and insight oversight and management

  • Accountable for overarching FM study support for ICVN – ensuring training of FM study leads and key cross-functional stakeholders, oversight of management of resources for all studies and responsible for metrics to demonstrate FM activities for Tier 1 trials

  • Accountable for operational support for priority FIRe Team(s) for assigned assets/indications including meeting facilitation, analysis, and reporting/tracking. Supports integration and review of stakeholder insights to inform actionable plans

Communications & Value Demonstration

  • Ensures platforms and tools are effectively leveraged to facilitate optimal bi-directional communications and information sharing between MedEngageX and market FM teams

  • Facilitates FM best practice sharing and implementation across ICVN and markets

  • Fosters communication and alignment with alliance partners, as appropriate

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Medical/Scientific background from prior Field Medical deployed and/or Field Medical Management position in Pharma or Biotech company (2+ years advantageous)

  • Proven track record in strategic thinking, ability to synthesize data and communicate effectively (excellent written/oral English mandatory), and demonstrate advanced presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across a matrixed, multicultural organization and manage Medical and Commercialization activities

  • Proven ability to innovate and to rapidly adapt to a fast-changing environment

  • Experience and proven knowledge in ICVN disease-state areas (advantageous)

  • Country or regional medical role (2 years desirable)

  • Understand regulatory policy & guidance for Medical/scientific communications in the industry

  • Proven understanding of the medical environment and industry trends and their impact on the business

  • Demonstrated skills with tools and technologies used to communicate and engage with large Medical audiences (Live & Remote)

  • Demonstrates consistent ethical and professional behavior

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20%

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $166,350 - $201,571

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
