Associate Data Science Director

As an Associate Director, Data Science & AI, you will partner with clients to build future-facing products and prototypes. You’ll lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure initiatives meet scope, time and budget while upholding rigorous and responsible engineering.

At AKQA, you’ll work in an innovative, inclusive culture, contribute to global Invention Sprints, and access ongoing development within a hybrid in‑studio/WFH model.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead integration of ML/AI, translating emerging research into products and prototypes.
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery from opportunity framing to deployment; manage scope, time and budget.
  • Set technical direction and mentor data scientists/ML engineers.
  • Drive rapid prototyping in Invention Sprints; build proofs of concept that unlock larger engagements.
  • Ensure best practices across data, models and MLOps; maintain clear documentation and governance.
  • Act as the central point across client, strategy, design and engineering; communicate and track milestones.
  • Manage agile and waterfall delivery; own SOWs, project plans and financial performance.
  • Qualifications: MSc/PhD; 6+ years in AI; Python + ML frameworks; experience in generative/NLP/predictive/CV; cloud AI/MLOps.
