MUFG Bank in Singapore is seeking a dedicated Associate to join their business management department under Japanese Corporate Banking division, supporting the APAC region. This role offers you the opportunity to be at the heart of regional strategy creation and business planning, working closely with colleagues across multiple divisions and partner banks. You will play a pivotal part in promoting business initiatives, maximising profit, and ensuring seamless collaboration between headquarters, branches, and external partners. What you'll do:

As an Associate – business management department, Japanese Corporate Banking, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where your ability to connect with others is essential. Your day-to-day activities will involve supporting strategic planning efforts for the APAC region, facilitating collaboration among teams both locally and internationally, analysing data for performance reviews, managing budgets, preparing impactful reports, organising conferences, and maintaining robust stakeholder relationships. Success in this role hinges on your capacity for effective communication in Japanese, adaptability to organisational changes, attention to detail when handling financial information, and your commitment to upholding company policies. You will be instrumental in driving cross-border strategies alongside Relationship Managers while ensuring that all regional branches are performing optimally.

  • Support the development of the division's strategy and business plans for Japanese Corporate Banking Business in the APAC region by gathering insights and coordinating with key stakeholders.

  • Promote collaboration with headquarters, branches, product offices, other divisions, and partner banks to ensure alignment of objectives and smooth execution of initiatives.

  • Work in partnership with colleagues in various divisions to coordinate and collate relevant materials that support the development of comprehensive business strategies.

  • Analyse data meticulously to illustrate performance trends and provide timely updates to management for informed decision-making.

  • Assist in preparing ad hoc departmental reports and presentations that communicate progress, challenges, and achievements effectively.

  • Manage expense budgets and headcount across the APAC region by monitoring expenditures and resource allocation.

  • Monitor financial performance regularly and assess outcomes against projected targets to identify areas for improvement.

  • Oversee the Balanced Score Card for the region by tracking key metrics and reporting on strategic goals.

  • Evaluate performance of regional branches through detailed analysis and feedback mechanisms.

  • Work closely with head office to promote business initiatives across the APAC region, ensuring consistent messaging and shared objectives.

  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder management with key internal and external parties to foster trust and cooperation.

  • Partner with Relationship Managers to promote cross-border domain strategy that enhances business opportunities throughout APAC.

  • Arrange and assist on various conferences across the region by coordinating logistics and supporting event execution.

  • Adhere strictly to all company policies as well as guidelines to maintain compliance standards.

  • Undertake any other matters instructed by Management as required.

 

What you bring:

Your proven experience as an Associate – business management department, Japanese Corporate Banking will demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively within multicultural teams while navigating complex regulatory environments. You bring not only technical expertise but also empathy when engaging with colleagues across regions. Your background includes hands-on involvement in strategic planning processes, budget management, data analysis for performance evaluation, stakeholder engagement at various levels (internal/external), conference organisation support, adherence to compliance standards, and effective communication using Japanese. Your commitment to continuous learning ensures you remain knowledgeable about industry developments while contributing positively towards communal goals.

 

  • Degree qualified is required.

  • Minium three years of relevant experience within corporate banking or a related field is highly desirable for success in this role.

  • Minium JLPT N1 Certification, a degree from a Japanese university or equivalent to effectively communicate with stakeholders, clients and senior management who speaks Japanese in Singapore Office / APAC.

  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional projects, communicate requirements clearly with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to organisational change as well as respond sensitively to demands from different stakeholders is crucial.

  • Demonstrated organised approach combined with efficient time management skills.

  • Experience in banking regulatory environments with particular focus on local regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word is necessary for report preparation and data analysis tasks.
