The Catalog Operations Department ensures that TCGplayer maintains its leadership position in the online retail space by providing the most robust product information available for the categories supported by our platform. The team's primary role is to source, ingest, enrich, create, and enhance the TCGplayer online catalog. We create customer trust and deliver solutions that connect thousands of businesses with customers across the collectible gaming industry, powering sales through physical stores, websites, mobile apps and the TCGplayer Marketplace.

As a Catalog Operations Specialist, the role plays a key part in supporting the strategic direction and overseeing the daily operations of catalog management. Responsible for coordinating and managing product updates in alignment with manufacturers' release schedules for specialized product categories. Duties include sourcing, cleaning, merging, and transforming metadata from both structured and unstructured data sources, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines. Accountable for delivering timely catalog updates and maintaining accurate metadata across various categories. Additionally, established automated tools are leveraged to optimize workflows and enhance catalog operations efficiency.
In this role, proactive, actionable insights are delivered, challenges are identified, and innovative solutions are developed to continuously improve catalog operations. Ownership of understanding and adhering to proper escalation procedures ensures the timely resolution of issues. Support is offered for inquiries originating from retailers, colleagues, and customers, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of any arising issues.
Operational guidance is provided to Creative Services, Marketing, and Partnership teams on specialized categories, helping to drive alignment and streamline processes. As an expert in the field, documentation for catalog processes is authored, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for specialized categories, ensuring consistency and clarity across teams and workflows.
Act as the subject matter expert and owner for assigned specialized categories within the Catalog Operations priority matrix (levels P2 - P5)
Monitor and update release schedules, product modifications, and key information for specialized categories. Effectively communicate changes to colleagues through Slack channels, weekly meetings, and ad-hoc huddles
Assist parallel catalogs with data and image updates, ongoing maintenance, and resolve queries
Deliver proactive, actionable insights, identify challenges, and develop innovative solutions to improve Catalog Operations. Take ownership of understanding and adhering to proper escalation procedures to ensure timely issue resolution
Offer support for inquiries originating from retailers, colleagues, and customers
Provide operational guidance to our Creative Services, Marketing, and Partnership teams on specialized categories
Author documentation for catalog processes as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for specialized categories
Responsible for managing strictly embargoed information, ensuring it remains confidential and is not disclosed, distributed, or shared under any circumstances. (Please be aware that some TCGs and related items may contain images that are sensitive in nature (e.g., graphic, explicit). As a Catalog Operations Specialist, you may be required to research, input, and review these items as part of your duties)
Experience within the collectibles and hobby gaming industry, specifically trading card games and other collectibles
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the retail and collectibles field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with creative teams and designers in a fast-paced setting
2-4 years of catalog operations experience, preferably in a high-volume technology organization (SaaS/eCommerce preferred), gaming or hobby industry, or related field (internal incumbents may substitute in-company experience in lieu of previous experience requirement)
Proficiency working in Microsoft Office products including Excel and G-Suite, Google Sheets, and Slack
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$34,800 - $61,400Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
